WolvesEdit

Thanks, I'm fine with the consensus myself. --Alientraveller 17:47, June 7, 2012 (UTC)

My mistake Edit

Hey Alien. Sorry about that revert earlier. Basically, I read your summary as "Achilles died before the wedding." I don't know how that happened, it just did. I blame lack of sleep and global warming XD Stormbeast The Helpful Place 20:22, March 27, 2013 (UTC)

French Colonial AssassinsEdit

While Louisiana and Saint-Domingue were both French colonies, they were not one Brotherhood. And if they were, it's never stated or implied as such. Agaté did not have control over Assassins outside of Louisiana, only over Aveline and Gérald. François Mackandal did not have control over Assassins in Louisiana, as there were none during his day. It would not be reasonable for a Mentor in Louisiana to lead the Assassins in Saint-Domingue either, or vice versa. It's for a reason that Agaté is listed by Ubisoft as being the Mentor of the Assassins in Louisiana and Mackandal as the Mentor of the Assassins in Saint-Domingue. :P Perhaps separate articles for the Louisianan Assassins and Haitian Assassins would be better... (even though I am starting to have my doubts about the usefulness of their existence). -- Master Sima Yi Clogs 17:08, May 7, 2013 (UTC)

Perhaps we could revamp the Colonial Assassins article to cover all the British, French and Spanish members given how fragmented the Brotherhood was. I agree, there's not much point to Haitian or Louisianan Assassins given how either group didn't have much history. --Alientraveller (talk) 17:15, May 7, 2013 (UTC)
The Colonial Brotherhood was its own Brotherhood, not a convergence of different Brotherhoods. And a Brotherhood did not have multiple Mentors (e.g. Mackandal, Agaté and Achilles; Agaté and Achilles at the same time even). "You may not think it to look at him how, but this man was once the Mentor of a powerful branch of the Assassins - the Colonial Brotherhood." - the Mentor. The Colonial Brotherhood is simply the one in the Thirteen Colonies, strange how Ubisoft named it. The Assassins in Louisiana and Saint-Domingue were definitely their own Brotherhoods - especially those in Saint-Domingue, which were in the Caribbean. And I meant to refer more to the existence of all 'branch' articles, seeing as all information will inevitably be covered under the Assassins article anyways, and we can't make Templar branch articles because of their complicated and ever-changing hierarchy. -- Master Sima Yi Clogs 17:23, May 7, 2013 (UTC)
EDIT: And fix yo talk page, mayn! -- Master Sima Yi Clogs 17:24, May 7, 2013 (UTC)
Oh, what's wrong?
I think the branches articles are fantastic subarticles because the Assassins page is very long. Maybe we could split the French Colonial article. --Alientraveller (talk) 17:39, May 7, 2013 (UTC)
I have no idea what is happening to your talk page, but when I try to edit it entirely your message does not show up in the text box. Before that it was just acting up. Anyways, yeah, the Assassins page is very long - but that is unfortunately unavoidable when we have yearly releases... but it's mostly because we can't have proper Templar branch pages that, well, I'd call it my slight case of OCD, starts acting up. -- Master Sima Yi Clogs 17:50, May 7, 2013 (UTC)
To be fair, the Templars are an ideology, not a group of hooded killers created to exterminate them in any corner. The Templars manifested themselves as the Roman Empire, Knights Templar, the Church, Byzantines, British Army and now Abstergo. So in a way, they have many branch articles. --Alientraveller (talk) 18:23, May 7, 2013 (UTC)
Well, that is not entirely true: they did not manifest themselves as the Roman Republic/Empire, Byzantine Empire or British Army. These organizations stood on their own; the Templars infiltrated them, but these organizations were not Templar bodies. Just like the Assassins infiltrated the Roman Republic (the Assassin Senators Brutus and Cassius). In the case of the Byzantines, the Templars merely fought under the Byzantine banner to rally the Greeks in the Ottoman Empire against their new hosts. But yeah, I see your point. Main problem is that, well, during the reign of the Borgia, it would seem that Rodrigo Borgia was the Grand Master of all Assassins in Europe, seeing as the Borgia had their hands on everything Templar in the continent. Yet some time later, and Reginald Birch (and likely others) had their own 'Rites' throughout Europe. And Rodrigo Borgia is named specifically as the Grand Master of the Italian Templars in the AC2 database. Another issue is the Byzantine Templars, who were mixed with Ottoman Templars and did not last very long. The Templars fall and rise whenever they please, they don't seem to have had any clear hierarchy prior to the founding of Abstergo Industries. And after that it is still quite vague, with their puppets and all. -- Master Sima Yi Clogs 18:30, May 7, 2013 (UTC)
Heh, I should've typed manifested in, not as. In any case, we should leave the community to decide consensus on the branches articles and what French Colonial Assassins should cover or be split. --Alientraveller (talk) 19:21, May 7, 2013 (UTC)

Fabiola Cavazza Edit

So, I saw that you undid my edit on the Courtesans, concerning Fabiola Cavazza. Fair enough, she is indeed not quite so notable as her counterpart. However, I still think she deserves a mention, though not in the same spot I'd put her before, obviously. I figured I could put her in the "Known Courtesans" bracket, create the "Constantinople" category and put her under that with a small description (after all, a courtesan in Constantinople is highly unusual). I would've done it myself, but for some reason, the page has gotten locked up (did you do that?). If you are able to edit the page yourself, could you please add Fabiola Cavazza to the article in my place? I'd really appreciate that :)

Connor's Use of ContractionsEdit

It wasn't just once or twice. He started to use them often after Bridewell Prison. Jackass2009 (talk) 19:59, August 14, 2013 (UTC)

That's why I've rephrased it to Watts and Ubisoft "avoided" Connor using contractions. It's a clear creative decision to have the character speak slowly and thoughtfully using terms like "I will not die today: the same cannot be side for you" or "It is not." When he does do it it's often very noticable like when he screams "I'm never leaving!" or "That's it!" Kind of like when he smiles. --Alientraveller (talk) 20:11, August 14, 2013 (UTC)
Ah, when I left that, it was right before that edit, but after mine was undone. My bad. I think what you changed it to is the best that sentence could have conveyed the truth and sorry for the confusion. Jackass2009 (talk) 05:14, August 15, 2013 (UTC)

Achilles amendmentEdit

Hi, I noticed you added the following to Achilles' article: "In 1769, Achilles was chased by bandits seeking his property. While fleeing their pursuit, he yelled at Ratonhnhaké:ton, a young Kanien'kehá:ka boy, to move out of the way of his horse."

I was just curious as to where you got this from, as you didn't provide a source, and I cannot remember it being in the game. --Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record 10:16, August 27, 2013 (UTC)

Well I added the image to the gallery: that's him on the horse yelling at Connor when he comes to the Homestead for the first time. --Alientraveller (talk) 10:23, August 27, 2013 (UTC)
Ah, I remember now. Thanks. --Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record 15:02, August 27, 2013 (UTC)

Edward's nationalityEdit

Hello Alientraveller,

I would like to politely disagree, Edward is Welsh and as such, should be known by his nationality rather than the over arching, umbrella term "British" that is being used. I didn't realise I was edit warring, also, the accent used is clearly Welsh as evidenced by every gameplay trailer to date.

SionIeuanDavies (talk) 21:19, September 9, 2013 (UTC)

"Edward is Welsh" - according to whom? "The accent is clearly Welsh" - I'd agree but Matt Ryan said he's using a Manchester dialect. --Alientraveller (talk) 21:22, September 9, 2013 (UTC)
Also, just because the accent is Welsh, if Ubisoft want Edward to come from Manchester, then Edward comes from Manchester. No questioning about it. Adding to this, putting in Wales for the sake of one character's accent is no real reason to make the Wiki split the United Kingdom article to suit some people's whims, considering there's little else describing Wales in the AC series, and it would warrant no actual use. Slate Vesper (talk) 21:24, September 9, 2013 (UTC)
Except Edward is born in Cardiff... so we could just change the adjective to "Welsh", either way it'll still link to the UK's article. --Alientraveller (talk) 21:26, September 9, 2013 (UTC)
I've already sorted it and kept the "British" part in. Slate Vesper (talk) 21:28, September 9, 2013 (UTC)
He was born in Cardiff, he is therefore Welsh I'm afraid. Change the adjective to Welsh and keep the link to UK, that makes sense. It is after all, like you said, part of the UK, thank you gentlemen.
SionIeuanDavies (talk) 21:38, September 9, 2013 (UTC)
Being born in a particular country does not automatically make you that country's nationality, your nationality depends on your parents' nationality. Since he has an English father, and since he died after the creation of the Kingdom of Great Britain, he is therefore British, I'm afraid. --Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record 08:25, September 10, 2013 (UTC)

Persian articlesEdit

why do you write untrue things about persian history —Preceding unsigned comment was added by Mehran.Persia (talk · contr)

well it is my job as a Persian historian/artist to stop this kinds of ignorence where people see xerxes as a bad king were in real life he was a good man who saved countless lives , and I already talked to ubisoft about this, and they said that this infomation you wrote is not accurate

Unified category suggestions Edit

Hey Alien, I just had a look over your sandbox, and I was thinking that it may be worth structuring "Illegal occupations" and "Criminal practices" under the subcategory of "Criminality", or dividing it up to a whole new section denoting "Law and order", which could allow for the inclusion of the guard and army set of categories.

Secondly, it may be worth reconsidering "Carnevale" to be under a new category of "Celebrations". Slate Vesper (talk) 21:38, June 24, 2014 (UTC)

And you could move these categories around? I don't mind, I'm just preoccupied with linking those categories that already exist, although I want Category:Historical documents and Category:Document collections to be merged into Category:Documents myself. As for creating a Celebrations cat, I'd rather place Carnevale in "Culture and society" and not leave it in a lonely category after the Midsummer and Christmas articles were deleted. --Alientraveller (talk) 21:47, June 24, 2014 (UTC)

Rogue DLC Edit

Hey Alien. I was looking through the activity feed, and noticed Assassin's Creed: Rogue downloadable content was deleted by V's bot, and marked for deletion by you. I was just wondering if there was a particular reason why it was marked. Be it created by a user, but not finished or left completely blank. If it's the former, make sure not to blank the page when adding the template. Hope to hear back soon, but I'll probably be at work when you do. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 11:27, August 9, 2014 (UTC)

RequestEdit

Hey Alientraveller

So, I was wondering if you could do something for me. The Assassin's Creed: Pirates page is obviously inadequate right now, so until it gets fixed up in its entirety, I'd like for there to be at least be some details on development and such, much like is being done for Rogue and Unity (mostly by you, so kudos on that). I'm not asking you to scrounge up all the announcements regarding Pirates, but if possible, could you integrate the information mentioned here into the article? It seems like a pretty important update.

Alright, thanks for reading :) Crook The Constantine District 16:22, September 4, 2014 (UTC)

Do you not feel confident enough Crook? I'll get round to it, at the moment I'm listening to the panels from SacAnime. --Alientraveller (talk) 16:31, September 4, 2014 (UTC)
No, I'm just busy editting another article and since I see you do the bulk of these news articles thingies, I thought I'd ask you :) SacAnime? With the Assassin's Creed voice actors? Crook The Constantine District 16:38, September 4, 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, main panel I just watched wasn't informative but very funny (RCS's favourite Ezio line is "For a good time call 1-800-ASSASSINO"), am currently listening to one just with Noah and Tiio. --Alientraveller (talk) 16:40, September 4, 2014 (UTC)

If you have the programs for it, you can make them yourself, like Crimson did. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure DarkFeather'll fix you up with one if you leave him a description of what you want. I still haven't gotten round to making my own. Not sure what I'd use for a sigil tbh :P Crook The Constantine District 16:27, September 9, 2014 (UTC)

i know we have a timeline, but from it you can't simply tell how are games chronologicaly ordered so i thought it will be great to game chronological list of AC media by time of plot like other games wikis. But like you suggested to move it to my personal blog, so i did it and now you can delete that page if you want :)

DialogueEdit

Hi Alientraveller, Darman here,
Why do we refer to Juhani and Dr. Vidic in dialogue as "Berg" and "Vidic"? Everyone else in scripts are referred to by first name. I can partially understand using "Vidic", since Warren's doctorate gives him the title of Dr. [last name], but he has mentioned his first name before. Juhani's article name has been discussed, but there aren't any other "Juhanis" in the series, while the only other "Warren" is an African-American farmer from the 18th century. Just confused here. Darman (talk) 03:48, February 1, 2016 (UTC)

Hmmm, hadn't thought about this. I'd say probably because Vidic and Berg are bad guys, writers are hesitant to personalise them. Worth bringing up in the forums if you feel we should be formal overall and refer to Desmond, Lucy et al. by their last names. I'm flattered you asked me this btw. --Alientraveller (talk) 12:04, February 1, 2016 (UTC)

Fairly sure the simplest explanation for this is because "Berg" and "Vidic" are the names these characters are most commonly known by in the series. -- Master Sima Yi Clogs 13:45, February 1, 2016 (UTC)

You make a good point, Alientraveller. Typically good guys call bad guys by their last name. Not so good after all? Anyway...
You or Sima: I'd been wondering if we should use villains' first names in scripts, in this case "Juhani" and "Warren". IIRC, we've done it with Daniel and the Ezio Saga villains, but not the Syndicate villains. Heroes' last names could be a mess; imagine what conversations would look like between the Frye twins, or Desmond and his dad. Darman (talk) 15:31, February 1, 2016 (UTC)
I honestly just go case by case >.> In Lucy Thorne's article, I used Lucy, but all the memory articles have "Thorne". I usually try to go by what's used in the games the most (e.g. I wouldn't use "David" for David Brewster since he's only referred to as Brewster, pretty much). For Juhani Otso Berg, I'm not quite sure whether it should be "Otso Berg" or just "Berg", but I wouldn't use "Juhani".
I wasn't here when most of the Ezio saga articles were written, so I don't know. It would make sense to use first names, since a lot of the AC2 targets are related and thus have the same surname. Crook The Constantine District 15:41, February 1, 2016 (UTC)
Ok, I'll continue with "Berg", "Vidic", etc. where appropriate. Just seemed odd (still kinda does), using last names. Like, "Hey, Earp, come here!" Eh...I will abide by the Wiki's / Bureau's rules. Thx. Darman (talk) 16:00, February 1, 2016 (UTC)
Sorry to bring this up again (thought it was resolved), but I see that the dialogue for The Mole and The Truch from the The Lost Archive memories have Dr. Vidic's lines under "Warren". Should they be changed to reflect other dialogue, or vice versa? --Darman (talk) 17:00, May 3, 2016 (UTC)

Assassin's Creed (Titan Comics)Edit

Lastest issue #6 of Titan Comics was released on 16th March not on 9th, they delayed it by week, so i don't know why you reverted my edit with corrected release date. Kulurak (talk) 12:46, March 18, 2016 (UTC)

Because I read it the week before. It's understandable your copy might've been delayed, these things happen when comics are shipped. --Alientraveller (talk) 13:21, March 18, 2016 (UTC)

StaffEdit

Hi, Darman here. No, I'm not asking about Wiki Staff. I'm wondering: would it be OK if I listed the staff for various households on the appropriate pages? The staff have their own pages, and we've done it before, listing ship crews and their years of service... --Darman (talk) 01:37, March 29, 2016 (UTC)

Go for it. I imagine you're referring to Kenway Mansion? --Alientraveller (talk) 08:41, March 29, 2016 (UTC)
And both de la Serre estates (Paris & Versailles, in Unity novel). Thanks! --Darman (talk) 08:46, March 29, 2016 (UTC)

RedirectsEdit

Darman again.I'm working on relinking redirects and I have 2 questoins:

(1) When I edited "Lairs of Romulus", I linked the redirects to the right page using the bar "|". But when Stormbeast edited it next, he removed the display text so it linked directly. Which format do we use? Piramide Cestia or Pyramid of Cestius?
(2) What are the conditions for a redirect to be removed/unlinked? e.g. one redirect for Piracy is Pirate, but no pages link with "pirate". There's a bunch more, but I won't get in detail now...

Thanks, --Darman (talk) 01:17, April 22, 2016 (UTC)

I can't speak for Stormbeast but I think the issue there was the Italian term is less familiar to readers than the English one. As for redirects, I'm not sure, but it might be because some people might have slow computers and redirects to help find articles, not as an alternative link. --Alientraveller (talk) 09:49, April 22, 2016 (UTC)
So, you'd prefer I link to the actual English title (if it exists) rather than the Italian/French/etc. name? About redirects: I don't think it has to do with Internet speed. What I meant was, if you use the Special:WhatLinksHere tool and click "(← links)" for any of the options, it'll show no pages link to those terms. With no pages linking to page x, can they be removed/unlinked/or something since they're not being used? I hope I made sense... --Darman (talk) 00:23, April 24, 2016 (UTC)
In general, we don't create random pages just to create redirects out of them unless it's of particular importance. The reason why "pirates" as a term links to Piracy is because pirates are practitioners of piracy, and as such, there is no need to create additional articles just to send a viewer to an alternate page simply for the sake of redirection. It would be simpler to cut out the middle-man and link the term to the appropriate page by placing the pagename first in square brackets, and then using a vertical divider to separate it from the text you'd like the hyperlink to display. I didn't mean that you made pages for the sake of it. I know about the square brackets/bar, I used it above. I'm wondering what happens to a redirect link if it's not used. e.g. the page name "Shrouds of Eden" is a link. One of its many redirects, "Coat of many colors", is not linked on any pages except in this format ( Coat of many colors ). If it's not being used as a direct link, e.g. Coat of many colors, why have it? Oh, and how would you prefer buildings to be linked – using the English (page name) or Italian (display text) name? --Darman (talk) 02:21, April 30, 2016 (UTC)
Ah, the reason for that. The example you listed is a link to the "Shrouds of Eden" page, so it's not a 'redirect' in the technical side of it per se, but sometimes there may be an allusion to a particular article that using the article's name outright would not fit. Using a verticle divider between the article's name and the text you'd like it to display as allows you to link it into an article more fluidly. On the latter point, I believe we go for the name that the games depict them as, but translate it into English in brackets on the article's name, although I'm not 100% sure because there was a discussion about the way non-English place names are represented on the wiki a while back.
