Freedom Cry standalone release

Yeah, you read that title correctly. Today, Ubisoft announced that its DLC for Assassin's Creed IV, Freedom Cry is to be released as a standalone title. This newly dubbed game is to be released in 18 February, this year. PC users, however, will have to wait a week. Ain't that a surprise.

"Rise up against slavery with Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry, available February 18th as a stand-alone title on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 computer entertainment systems and February 25th on PC. Born a slave, Adewale found freedom as a pirate. Now, he has become a trained Assassin and an illustrious member of the Brotherhood. Forced to face his past, he sets out to free slaves and bring death to their captors. Originally released as an add-on for Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, Adewale's epic adventure is now available as its own stand-alone title; purchase of Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag is not required."

I have my own doubts about this, and I'm assuming (or perhaps, hoping) that it will come with some additional content. Having not actually played the DLC, I'm not exactly in a position to fully judge.

Update: This is a download-only deal, and it is exclusive for the PlayStation 3 and 4, and PC. Xbox users will have to miss this out.
