For any work of fiction set in the future you run the danger of having your audience live to see the age you predicted -- especially if your write something as captivating as 1984 or Assassin's Creed. To me, it seems like a great excuse for a party -- such as the Terminator marathon people planned for 29 Aug 1997.

If you look at the e-mails in AC1, you'll find that Desmond's original captivity in Abstergo was during the week of 3-9 September 2012. By the week of 17 September, Desmond and the others have reached the Sanctuary in Monteriggioni; they leave in the week of 1 October. We could then call 3-9 September AC1 Week, 10-16 Sept AC2 Week, and 17 Sept-1 October Brotherhood Week. (I know Brotherhood Week is actually a fortnight, but work …

    Virtues of Virtual Training

    September 24, 2011 by Smoke3723

I suck at competitive sports. And competitive non-sports. And competitive everything that involves being observed by other people. At school they observed my ineptitude and tore me to shreds over it. I took silent satisfaction in knowing what the bullies did not: I can clear the Azure Lake in 14 seconds!

Currently everyone is speculating that Altair will return, or perhaps a descendant of Ezio. I think our ancestor will be a forefather of Altair, from before the Crusades.

The latest previews imply it will be set in Constantinople/Istanbul. Well, before it was Constantinople it was Byzantium, the capital of the Eastern Roman or Byzantine Empire. The Byzantines pursued a policy of keeping their enemies at each other's throats, and so their name has become synonymous with complicated polital conspiracies.

An interesting side note: as Byzantium was getting its butt kicked in its wars with…

    Multiplayer Moments

    April 26, 2011 by Smoke3723

There are certain moments when you have been priveledged to watch a most supreme kill or escape -- either by a team-mate, by your hunter/target or (hopefully) by your noble self. Here's my collection of Multiplayer Moments.

(Note: while the individual persona names may not be the actual ones used, the events surrounding them are accurate.)

    • The Prowler flees to the rooftops, chased by The Officer. To cement his escape The Prowler runs to perform a Leap Of Faith: yet as he runs the final metres The Officer draws his pistol, achieving lock just as The Prowler leaps. Yet the angle is such that The Officer fires. The Prowler's corpse lands in a hay bale, and the Officer achieves a Mid-Air kill.
    • His target fleeing, The Mercenary aims and fires…
