Hello, all, this is DarkFeather, your friendly neighborhood Rafiq. The Assassinews blog has taken a turn for the quiet, and I'd like to take it up again. Hopefully some of you will find interesting new things here, and we can spark some discussion.
So, we have a film coming, as (I hope) many of you know. Some interesting tidbits from the same:
- In the tradition of the games, historical sequences are being shot in Spanish.[1]
- At least one Leap of Faith in the film was actually performed by the stuntman from 125 feet onto a crashpad. If you ever thought the Leap of Faith was impossible, here's some proof it's not.[2]
- Those of you who enjoy costume design, set design, and art direction may find the new featurette on Building the World interesting.
We've also had some interesting developments in the novels:
- A Joan of Arc novel is coming in the form of Heresy. While we've seen Joan in other games in the various puzzles presented, a story with her as a main character will hopefully be interesting.
- A new young-adult series, Last Descendents, has released. It follows a teenager trying to exonerate his father and catching the attention of the Assassins and Templars in the process. Those who enjoy the modern-day story might be interested in this expansion of the storyline.
- We also have three new comics: Assassin's Creed (Titan Comics), Assassin's Creed: Templars, and Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants – Locus. Comic fans rejoice!
Unfortunately, on the front of games, we may be waiting a while for a game. Ubi has not made a promise that Empire will release in 2017; in fact, they're saying the opposite.[3] The game will release when it's ready, so all we can hope for is a better release cycle (more bug-free than Unity's, for example) and a caliber of game we haven't seen since Assassin's Creed II.
I'll be posting back each month with what news I've heard, seen, and found. Hopefully it will be an interesting read. As always, please stop by IRC to chat!
