This is my review on Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, it will contain spoilers to the game so if you have not completed it then I advise you stop reading this now. This is my personal opinion so don't leave any comments why I should think this and that, there is enough of that on YouTube. I will review the storyline, gameplay, some other things as well and if is better or not than Assassin's Creed II
The story picks up straight after Assassin's Creed II, literally, with the last few word of Minerva's warning and Ezio left confused, but straight after this Ezio meets up with his Uncle Mario and the two escape the Vatican, which was a good first mission, getting used the old free running and the new, improved combat system. After a similar to Assassin's Creed II, but great title introduction they return to Monteriggioni with a few easy missions and sex scene with Caterina things begin to get interesting with the Siege of Monteriggini mission, which was very fun and epic via great gameplay and graphics. After Ezio gets shot and his rescued from the roadside by Niccolo Machiavelli, another Assassin, we go straight to good old Desmond as you know by now arrives in Monteriggioni with the other Assassin's, after a fun mission with Desmond and Lucy free running through the catacombs of the Villa while exchanging funny banter they reach the sanctuary and restore power to the Villa allowing Desmond to continue to relive Ezio memories.
Well as most of the game takes place in Rome I won't in to detail about every little sequence, but there where some really fun ones that stood out like the infiltrating of Castel Sant'Angelo in which Ezio must rescue Caterina, whick takes back to the key element of a Assassin's Creed game, stealth. And the passion play at the Colosseum and one of my favorites memory sequence 8, the Borgia, man I love Apple gameplay.
Overall the story is good, not as clever and well thought out as Assassin's Creed II, but very good and is a lot more thrilling and epic.
Well the gameplay is something new, different, and brilliant. As well as keeping the old elements of gameplay from the previous two games it adds so much more with the Apprentices and combat system, which is easier, but the game almost all the time overwhelms you with guards. The Apprentices are great edition, at first a didn't care for them, but now a have unstoppable army of twelve Muhahahahaha *thunder in background*! Rebuilding Rome felt very awarding with the doom and gloom turned into a flourishing jewel of a city, you also want to collect all the armor and weapons, or fine arts, turn the hideout on Tiber Island into a very welcome feeling.
I also love the Borgia towers, mainly because of the tower leaders, who if decide to fight you, are very challening opponents and the Papal guards are good edition, I always wanted a guard with speed, strengh and skill and looks as if they could kick you ass!
Oh and controlling the Apple was awesome, I kept think to myself "The POWER, I am unstoppable"! in a power hungry voice...= P
Overall Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is a great edition to the series with a epic and thrilling story and gameplay that never bores you I definitely recommend this for any Assassin's Creed fan. The final mission with Ezio at the Siege of Viana in Spain was epic if not a bit short and the cliffhanger with Desmond stabbing Lucy was a good way to end it and left it open for a great sequel. Is Brotherhood better than Assassin's Creed II? Well certainly in terms of gameplay and epicness, but the previous game had a much better storyline and was more clever so they are probaly even, but there were some things that pissed me off like how Caterina had to leave so early in the game.
I give it a 9.8/10 a fair enough score.
