Not yet announced, why the page?

Seeing as it has not yet been announced, why is there a page for AC4? Isn't everything here as speculation, because we are all assuming they are going to do more games? I know there is the Corey May person saying that he was ruling out WW2 and Feudal Japan, but I vaguely remember reading that on here ages ago, before lots of things about AC3 were announced, including the setting. Eggy2504 10:51, June 11, 2012 (UTC)

Look at the sources. It isn't assumption that there will be more games, it's fact. They have stated it numerous times. I made this page to stop people from asking "will there be more games?" because there will be. So far it's not working out so well because they are still asking about it... And remember that the Assassin's Creed III page has been around since 2009 or so... -- Master Sima Yi Clogs Marvel Studios 10:53, June 11, 2012 (UTC)
I had heard somewhere that there was the possibility the 4th game would be from the perspective of a Templar. Is that true? Does anyone have the article link or something? 17:43, July 17, 2012 (UTC)

Then we shouldn't have had the Assassin's Creed III page before Assassin's Creed: Revelations was released either. -- Master Sima Yi Clogs 20:04, July 17, 2012 (UTC)
Assassin's Creed was confirmed as a trilogy long ago, made sense to give all 3 of the main series titles pages from the start. An AC IV page conflicts with previous information, however..
I know that it could be another spin-off like Liberation or something, but perhaps the name isn't appropriate? Makes it seem like there will be more in the main series of games, with Desmond's adventures in the Animus. 09:20, September 15, 2012 (UTC)
Ubisoft mentioned that Desmond would have a trilogy. However, they never said that the Assassin's Creed series would stop at three numbered games. Slate Vesper (talk) 09:24, September 15, 2012 (UTC)
While initially the series was planned as a trilogy, as you can clearly see in the sourcing of the article, Ubisoft have now confirmed that there will be more main games after Assassin's Creed III. -- Master Sima Yi Clogs 09:42, September 15, 2012 (UTC)

Its the 27th, Ubisoft should of had that press event today. It should be ALL over the internet, yet the only things I'm getting are things I already knew - we are playing as Edward Kenway, Haytham's Dad, he's known as an Assassin, Privateer and 'sometimes' pirate" Its set in the Caribean, like the naval missions of AC3, and its set in the 1700's which makes it a prequel......( 22:32, February 27, 2013 (UTC))

The press release was today, but the information is being embargoed until March 4. "Gaming journalism at its finest." Stormbeast The Helpful Place 02:10, February 28, 2013 (UTC)

AC4:Black Flag box art leaked.--ACsenior (talk) 09:49, February 28, 2013 (UTC)

We all realize that this is real, but we do not add speculation, rumors and leaks to canon articles. Everyone who does will be banned. Only add information when Ubisoft officially confirms the game's existence. Also anon, just because the ancestor storyline is set before the events of Assassin's Creed III does not make it a prequel; the actual storyline is reliving the memories in the modern day storyline, which will undoubtedly move forward, making it a sequel. -- Master Sima Yi Clogs 10:06, February 28, 2013 (UTC)

There was another image shown of a map, which said the date of the game, unless you think this map is not genuine, I think it gives a good idea of when exactly it is set: --Altaïr 19:41, February 28, 2013 (UTC)

We all know that the Animus has always been the source of our adventures in Assassin's Creed, So I pose this Question, Is Desmond Still Alive? Could he possibly have survived whatever the hell that thing Juno built did to him, and crawl back to the Animus? Or is it possible that Bill Miles has stepped up to the chair. Or is it Possible that Connor is reliving memories throught the use of the memory discs that were seen in Assassin's Creed Revalation's.

I took some quick screenshots of Edward and the Pirate for you all. A youtuber reuploaded this trailer so I was able to take some quick pics before it gets taken down. It's not the best quality, though. But these will have to do until Ubisoft reuploads it. Hopefully the gallery gets put up soon so we can add them to the gallery. :)

Possible Desmond is in The Animus Like Subject 16?

its Possilbe That Desmond's Mind Was Uploaded to The Animus Like subject 16 in the black room think what ubisolf is doing desmond may be dead but there is a theory his mind or body is in the amimus like what subject 16 did his mind was in the animus the black room this is theory (107Number (talk) 01:52, March 4, 2013 (UTC))

That just might be possible, but there are two small problems.

  • We lived Desmond's last few months entirely, and there's no point where he could have done so without us noticing.
  • Desmond was not a computer genius like Clay, and Juno wasn't helping him preserve his consciousness either, so he couldn't have done it. -- IlMualim Wanna Chat? 12:40, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

There is NO modern day with Desmond or any other person like that - we have assumed the roles, as players, of Abstergo Agents and after having upgraded the Animus we can play anyones ancestor we wish. I assume Abstergo is tapping into Desmond's family linage because of all the acrtifacts they have come across =] I for one thinks its a great new feature in AC because now they don't have to confine themselfs to members of one family, they can jump all over the world and go backwards and forwards between whatever time to 2013. This will surly open tons of doors!! - Harlan. ( 05:53, March 5, 2013 (UTC))

Since a lot of people are constantly editing the article, claiming it's a sequel, can someone put that message like thingy back on the top? I remember there was a message asking users not to add speculation earlier, so I suppose someone could write, "Do not write that it's a prequel" on the top. -- IlMualim Wanna Chat? 01:32, March 6, 2013 (UTC)

I know this is so minor it shouldn't even be brought up, but i want to mention it to get it out of the way. How will we phrase the first sentence at the beginning of articles on specific memories (ie.Last Man Standing was a virtual representation of one of Ezio Auditore's genetic memories, relived by Desmond Miles in 2012 through the Animus) with Desmond out of the picture? And to thicken the plot, I heard from some sources that this was extracted from Desmond, either during his initial stay at Abstergo or possibly from his father. Given these instances, I return to my original question: How would we phrase the first sentence at the beginning of every memory?

"xxx was a virtual representation of one of Edward Kenway genetic memories." Done. --Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record 23:21, March 8, 2013 (UTC)
Add "relieved in 2013 by an Abstergo agent through the Animus"? Just a small thought.
Note: I'm not 100% sure it's indeed 2013, just a guess on my part. Crimson Knight Intercom 23:29, March 8, 2013 (UTC)
Adding on from Jasca's statement, I suppose we could weave in something along the lines that it was relived by an Abstergo employee through using Desmond's DNA as a base, but we don't know the intricacies of how the arrangement works for the time being. Edit: Crimson sniped half of what I wanted to say from me. :( Slate Vesper (talk) 23:32, March 8, 2013 (UTC)
It is 2013. Though this 'issue' has also been raised already for memories from Assassin's Creed III: Liberation and The Tyranny of King Washington. Easily solved. -- Master Sima Yi Clogs 23:32, March 8, 2013 (UTC)
Not easily solved, as we don't know that it is an Abstergo Industries employee relieving the ToKW memories. It may be the case for Black Flag, but no confirmation has been given regarding ACIII's DLC, so we shouldn't assume they are both being treated in the same way by Ubi. --Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record 12:06, March 12, 2013 (UTC)

We don't know about the memories or Abstergo yet, we'll only find out once the game's released. So, I think this whole discussion is pre-emptive. Crimson Knight Intercom 16:19, March 12, 2013 (UTC)

You are correct, I had been confused after watching a video on YouTube showing the Abstergo Entertainment logo at the start of the DLC (which does not imply 'employee'). I don't see how that makes it "not easily solved" though. -- Master Sima Yi Clogs 16:27, March 12, 2013 (UTC)

Jackdaw Crew = Brotherhood substitute?

"Many of the same upgrades available in Assassin's Creed 3 can still be applied to your ship, but more exciting are the upgrades available for your crew. As a bonafide pirate captain, Edward will naturally have to have a loyal and strong crew at his beck and call. Individual crew members can be upgraded and outfitted to improve their abilities - think the Assassin's Guild from previous games - but with a catch; if a crew member dies in battle, he's gone for good. You'll have to hire a replacement and train him from step one. This should introduce an element of consequence to the battles." - Article on Can't post the link for some silly reason.

Something to look for: No African pirates?

One thing I noticed during the trailer was the distinct lack of African particularly African American pirates.  Blackbeard was known for having africans in his crew that he was hanged with.  The exact nature of africans being treated 100% as equals on his crew is something of historical debate  though its not suprising considering the ship he captured  La Concorde, had african slaves.  Personally, one of my good friends is a descendent of blackbeard's crew and is 25% african american.  While little evidence of Blackbeard having many wives exists, thanks to diaries and genetic testing, she and many other can trace themselves back to the directly to Blackbeard or his crew.

This is speculation on my part, but it feels like Ubisoft may have overlooked some of the historical facts involving Blackbeard--especially the broad fact of Africans on his crew.  If true it would be a travesty not only to descents of the crew, but to entertainment in general as an example of the Disney Effect similar to african american's being in westerns.  I am going to mention this to a couple of the people who do reviews for Assassin's Creed, but it would be nice if you guys could look out for any African NPCs or characters in the new Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

So please look for this when you guys write your articles in the comming months. :) 19:59, March 26, 2013 (UTC)

Limited Edition locations.

Where will they be releasing the Black Box Edition, The Buccaneer edition, and the other really speacial editions? Are they going to do what they did with Assassin's Creed 3 and release them over the pond, in Europe or someplace like that. JayKattz 16:15, March 27, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, the Black Chest, Buccaneer, Skull Edition and special edtion are European. The Gamestop Edition is North American. It's always been like that. Started basically I think with Asassin's Creed II, where in Europe they got the Black Box Edition, with a Master Assassin Ezio figure. I'm not sure if it was available in North America. Anyway I think the ones mentionned above are available at -- Altaïr 15:10, March 27, 2013 (UTC)
I just hope that the figure will eventually find it's way to the U.S. JayKattz 16:15, March 27, 2013 (UTC)
Would anyone know why I'm not able to preorder the Black Chest edition? I'm going to Uplay's website but I'm only getting the option for the standard pc download pre order. Woodes Rogers

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this yet but if you look closely at the back of the ship at the end of the E3 Trailer you can see that the ship is named "Delicia". After a bit of research I found out that the Delicia was captained by a man named Woodes Rogers. Rogers later went on to be the first Royal Governor of the Bahamas. He also imposed some kind of tax. Odds are he'll be one of the Templars we fight. 00:40, July 12, 2013 (UTC)

Woodes Rogers was a pirate hunter. --Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record 08:25, July 12, 2013 (UTC)
Odds are not he'll be one of the Templars we kill then, since he died after Haytham was born. -- Master Sima Yi Clogs 08:53, July 12, 2013 (UTC)
That might be true but their historical death dates don't always match the Assassin's Creed ones. Robert de Sable is assassinated two years before history says he died. Same goes for Jacopo de' Pazzi. Or maybe it could be that we only fight him and end up sparing him in the end, like for Rodrigo Borgia. 11:10, July 12, 2013 (UTC)

Since we know we will be playing as an Abstergo agent reliving Edward's memories through an Animus in Black Flag, this leads to the question, "When is this?"

Possible spoilers

If on 21 December 2012, Desmond died and Juno took over the earth, how in the world will there be peace and such in an Abstergo office while an agent is reliving memories? It wouldn't make sense if it was after 2012. Maybe, much long after? After Juno is overthrown? If the game takes place before Desmond's death, that would make more sense. The assassin and timeline itself is before Connor's time, which was the end of Desmond's saga. Theories? Thoughts? D3T&FS (talk) 17:03, August 28, 2013 (UTC)

1) The modern part is in 2013 and it does make sense since we are not in 2012 anymore.

2) There are a lot of people working for Abstergo Industries and the part of Abstergo that workes on memories taken from dead/alive people is getting reseached by reseatch analysts at Abstergo Entertainment.

3) Juno is a rouge AI so she does not have enough power to enslave the world...yet.

4) The Animus allows us to go to any timeline in the past. --ACsenior (talk) 17:24, August 28, 2013 (UTC)

Looking at this article, it seems that it hasn't been updated since the game was released, given the presence of future tense. Do we have the go-ahead to change it to the proper tense? I don't want to step on any toes if this is already underway or not being done for some other reason.
