New Ideas

I have an idea... since AC3 will probably include the search for the 'Eve' character to find Desmond, why not incorporate her as the story? Why not, instead of Desmond finding her, they stumble upon each other. This would seem like destiny and would be a major blow against the Templars in the modern day, who appear to be dismantling Assassin operations worldwide... So why not then incorporate a playable female to make that final link between Desmond and 'Eve'? If Desmond's story should be halted after ACR, and if we have seen that female characters have been present in the Brotherhood itself (though never as major roles, always as the sort of citizens you pick off the street and turn into deadly assassins), why not then take one of these female assassins and give her a storyline too in order to converge, and unite the 'Adam and Eve' factor of the story, the factor that I think is often overlooked, though it is the single most important factor in order to stop the said apocalypse! As for ideas for the ancestor of the female character, I would go as far as to say a female assissin in Egypt in the 17th century. I don't know if many know this, but this was a crucial century in which the French Empire invaded Egypt briefly under the leadership of Napoleon Bonaparte, this was in 1798, and just in 1801, the power of Egypt was contested by Ottomans, Mamluks, and British forces. This is key in shaping the world as it is today, and could have a very clever storyline, and including historic figures such as Napoleon himself, Muhammad Ali (not the boxer, the actual Ottoman commander known formally as Kavalali Mehmed Ali Pasha) and include key battles and settings such as near the Pyramids of Giza, in Cairo, Alexandria, and could be tied easily to Assassin's Creed Revelations through the fact that these are Ottomans which are involved, and are following orders all the way back in Istanbul! I don't know if this idea is already been looked at or not, but I think it could make an impressive Assassin's Creed storyline, and could cleanly tie up all that has been happening into one final, single-edged storyline. Perth21 06:17, January 21, 2012 (UTC) I agree. WWII is a far too dated and clichéd scenario for the AC series. I also think it's too early to set the next chapter in a present-near future time line. Ubisoft has already confirmed that Desmond's role in the series will be coming to an end in AC: Revelations. AC3 should feature a new protagonist, new setting, and new historical period. Desmond could afterwards make a surprise return and tie-together his story with the new characters. If you look at the previous games there are literally dozens of scenarios for new stories. In AC1 Desmond realizes at the end that others came before him and that their memories spanned thousands of years through various cultures. In AC2 Ezio learns of the true origin of the war itself. AC: Brotherhood hinted that during Desmond's time there were at least four other assassin networks in operation around the world. I think these all could play into a new story.

One location mentioned in AC: Brotherhood indicates an assassin network in Moscow, Russia. This scenario has already been elaborated in the 3 issue graphic novel series AC: The Fall. Although it's already been done in a literary form, I think the story's concept could be easily adapted into a playable game.

Another source mentioned was Sao Paulo, Brazil. If done right, I think playing as a Spanish immigrant in 16th century South America would be interesting. Imagine playing as an assassin fighting against templar explorers in a race for El Dorado; the legendary City of Gold. One of the pieces of Eden could be hidden in the city and you could even throw-in historical figures like Coronado, Pizarro, or Orellana. Besides, how many video games do we know of that are set in ancient South America? Go ahead, count them, I'll wait. IT'S AN UNTAPPED RESOURCE UBISOFT!!!!!

Osaka, Japan was another location indicated in Desmond's email. This scenario could almost write itself. The ideal period should be mid 19th century, during the final days of the Tokugawa Empire. Assassins would be ninjas, Templars would be visiting dignitaries from Europe, enemies could be Ronin samurai hired by the Templars, and historical figures such as Tokugawa, Matsumoto, and Obunaga would fit easily into the story. Various locations could include Osaka, Tokyo, Edo, Masawa, ect. I could go on and on, but really all the details are readily available in the history books.

The last location mentioned was Denver, Colorado. Many fans of the series have speculated that this could tie-in with the American Civil War of the 1860's and possibly the beginning of the Freemasons in American culture. I see two problems with this idea. One, to write a game set in the the Civil War, Ubisoft would have to redesign game play for more guns and shootout combat. While this may be possible, I think it would be a deviation from the assassin concept. Guns aren't subtle or stealthy at least not the ones made before 1920. If an assassin tried to use knives or swords in a gun battle..... oh never mind. Second, the Freemason concept sounds too much like AC: National Treasure. The series has maintained it's originality well enough without stealing from Hollywood.

Whatever the case may be I hope that AC3 continues the series concept of new histories, new cultures, and of course new characters. The world is full of infinite possibilities and history still has many stories to tell.

Having it be in WW2 is ridiculous. What is it going to be next Call Of Duty : Assassin's Creed 3?

To be honest, I don't think it will take place in World War II. That one's a bit out there. The most supported outcome is modern day. Desmond already has all of Ezio and Altair's skills, and he needs to protect the temples or the earth will be completely razed like it was in the past. This leads me to believe this:
The setting is apocalyptic. Desmond will travel the world to locate the temples of the gods/goddesses and restore them. All the while, the sun will be growing more and more unstable. If Desmond fails, the Earth meets its end and the gods will be unable to restore it again (as Minerva mentioned that they had lost too much of their power at the end of ACII.)
As for the templars, there are two possibilities:
  1. They don't know what's coming and simply continue attempting to build their new world
  2. Their vision of the new world involves utter destruction
Now, should Desmond succeed, the world will be saved. Vidic will most likely be the final boss to face, leading me to believe #2 in the templar possibilities. He could have a line like this:
"Desmond, you fool. Humanity is far too ignorant for its own good. What have we created? War, killing, and stealing."
See how easy it would be? Think about it.-Neo (T) (C) (Home) 02:18, December 24, 2009 (UTC)
You know, the game you're talking about already exists... ever played Majora's Mask ? ^^ 203.147.85.29 01:15, November 11, 2010 (UTC)
The closing scenes in Juno's vault reveal two symbols: the Apples projection of the Masonic Eye and and the Phrygian Cap. The Masonic Eye is an historically recurring symbol of the all-seeing-eye of God. The Phrygian Cap is also known as a liberty cap since it was adopted to symbolize freedom and the pursuit of liberty.

When Shaun was cut of by time freezing once Desmond picked up the Apple, he was about to say that the two come together in the "Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen", a defining document of the French Revolution.

Maybe the third installment will be in 18th century France? I know it's crucial that Desmond stay as Desmond to find Eve, but maybe (since he was put back into an Animus by unknowns) he relives the French Revolution to uncover secrets of Eve's history or how to use the Apple to go back to Eve, or to find the location of another Apple (since each is unique I think?) to put with Desmond's Apple to travel back to Eve.

What should be put on this article?

I think we should only write possible settings the developer spoke themselves and not speculations, even from the game's information. With all the time periods and locations that have been seen in the game, it would be endless...--PhantomT1412 23:39, December 27, 2009 (UTC)

NEWS

It has been said that it would star ezio

confirmation

Ubisoft's new Assassin's Creed game will again star Italian hero Ezio, Ubisoft has confirmed - and will be created by the same studios behind AC2.

The publisher today revealed that the story of the game will be a "follow-up" to AC2.

It has also been revealed that Assassin’s Creed 3 will be released in March, 2011 - Killer garry

Thats not the third game, it an expansion or "epilogue" to AC II (J.h.jaraub 17:19, January 17, 2010 (UTC))

this is direct from ubisoft website-

The 2010-11 fiscal year will see a greater number of franchise releases than in 2009-10, including Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction™, a new game in the Tom Clancy™’s Ghost Recon® series, Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands™, Driver®, Raving Rabbids™ 4 and a new episode of Assassin’s Creed®, which will be the first in the series to have an online multiplayer mode.

so it seems like there will be a side game. - killer garry

Yes, this game is called "Assassin's Creed:Brotherhood". It stars Ezio but it is INBETWEEN ACII and the soon-to-be ACIII. You could say that it is AC2.5 but it is NOT Assassin's Creed 3 Tom LV69 18:38, June 20, 2010 (UTC)

This does not belong on this page!!! BROTHERHOOD IS NOT AC3 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 81.11.189.183 00:36, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

AC3

it could be in WW2 cause it would have a good plot. You try to assassinate Hitler and his staff, who are secretly Templars, from finding a piece of eden to win WW2. It could be based on real assassination plots, like the July 1944 bomb plot. Since multiple countries tried to assassinate him, you could play as alot of different assassins from different countries. that would be awsome.

No it couldn't. I believe it was the... uhh... storywriter(?)... who said that it wouldn't be set in WWII. And guys, remember to sign your posts with ~~~~... -- Master Sima Yi 17:37, January 17, 2010 (UTC)
its still a good storyline, maybe for assassins Creed 4, if they make it, hopefully with guns too, probably a hidden pistol with a silencer. And I dont really care what anyone says its still a good plot. Third Echelon 22:48, January 17, 2010 (UTC) Third Echelon 22:47, January 17, 2010
Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing it personally either. It has already been stated in AC II that Hi
tler
was a Templar and was killed by Assassins. They said they wouldn't give it this time era as they want to let players explore other time periods in history. -- Master Sima Yi 07:36, January 18, 2010 (UTC)

Anybody ever thought about that maybe it'd take place BEFORE Altair's time? "Altair was the middle of a very very long timeline" I think that'd be interesting. The italian renaissance was about as near to modern times as I cared for, anyways. ~Shyanmar 14:23, January 23, 2010

You do realise that they said that the Assassins Creed Series would be a TRILOGY. Like three times... -- Spoonodeath 13:30, February 26, 2010 (UTC)

Once they finished Desmond's story, they can just start with another's, like Daniel Cross'. -- Master Sima Yi 14:28, September 29, 2010 (UTC)

I think that what they meant with "middle of a very very long timeline" was starting from Jesus I think Because what would be the use of going further back than Altaïr? and WWII? Hell NO this ain't a shooter go play some Call Of Duty or something!

Just because it's WWII doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a shooter. You play as an ASSASSIN, I highly doubt he would attract attention by using some form of heavy firearm. -- Master Sima Yi 14:28, September 29, 2010 (UTC)

Anyway Ubisoft already said it wouldn't be in WW2, they like it to be in little known ages of time. So my suggestions are: -French Revolution -Ancient Japan or China -South American in colonial times -Wild West (Not so sure but it would be cool)Le Vulpe 00:21, October 5, 2010 (UTC)

No its not going to be set in Japan or China or anything like that because its the ITALINAN Renaissance not Japanese Renaissance. Anyway I would hate something like that. Ive heard word that they're setting it between Altair's time and Ezio's time, but wherever they do decide to set it im shure that the time they travel back to with the animus will not be the key role of te story as Desmond is yet to Finnish off the 2012 problems with Abstergo and all that. So I have a feeling we'll see more of Desmond than any other Assassin in this game. Grim Leaper19 04:16, April 25, 2011 (UTC)

One thing I'd like to point out is definitely the "little known period in time" that Ubisoft has been going with. We need to remember, also, that they're using majorly documented events that aren't used much in modern literature, gaming or movies- the Crusades were hardly "little known", and the same goes for the Renaissance. However, events like the French Revolution are even more obscure- we'll most likely be going to China AND Japan in the 1600s or 1700s. Hopefully arquebuses will be much more commonly used- I want to be punished for being detected, not mildly irritated by a group of idiots with swords they can't use. Making it something like knife vs. guns, along with the fact that guns would obviously alert everyone nearby of their presence, means that they would make for more challenging gameplay. 98.231.11.167 02:13, January 26, 2011 (UTC)

cool idea

What about the 1920s? Like mafioso and stuff? Al Capone could be an ally and Elliot Ness a templar?

Yeah, Capone as an Assassin could be cool. The Untouchables as Templars as well. However, except for that there isn't much happening at the time. -- Master Sima Yi 07:36, January 18, 2010 (UTC)

AC3

In an interview with Patrice, he said it could be in WWII era, but his personal favorite idea is that of Japan. And yes, the scriptwriter, Cory, said that as long as he is writing for Assassin's Creed it will not be set in WWII era, so unless Ubisoft wants to fire their scriptwriter, its not going to be in WWII. 98.112.8.159 01:20, January 19, 2010 (UTC)Chess

This *rumor* about feudal Japan is been going since AC1 was released. I personally don't like it. Anyway, do you have a link to your source? -- D. Cello 01:22, January 19, 2010 (UTC)

I quoted it wrong actually. It wasnt Patrice, it was someone else that works with ubisoft. And it wasnt a personal favorite, it was a general favorite... but heres my source... 98.112.8.159 01:47, January 19, 2010 (UTC)Chess

http://www.gadgetreview.com/2009/10/gaming-rumor-assassins-creed-3-to-be-set-in-feudal-japan.html

I would love a Feudal Japan storyline. I know quite a lot about it, as my interest rose after playing Samurai Warriors. I could easily see Oda Nobunaga become the main antagonist. He's usually portrayed as a cruel man and he was very fascinated about the Western culture, so in the game universe he could possibly have turned to a Templar. If he would be the antagonist, we would get one interesting final battle... the Incident at Honnō-ji, in which Nobunaga was rebelled against by Akechi Mitsuhide. -- Master Sima Yi 12:36, January 19, 2010 (UTC)

I think Feudal Japan will be awesome! *_* I'm kinda hoping that the story will be more into Classical Japan such as Heian period, although that is so unlikely cuz Heian period took place even before Third Crusade =/ - SilverSummonerTaLk 14:31, January 19, 2010 (UTC)
Hm... the Heian period is also a good choice. Seeing Taira no Kiyomori as the main antagonist is a good idea. But I don't think it falls under Feudal Japan. I thought Feudal Japan was from the Azuchi Momoyama period to the early Edo period. -- Master Sima Yi 15:49, January 19, 2010 (UTC)
That's why I said Classical Japan :D it took place before Third Crusade, if I'm not mistaken. - SilverSummonerTaLk 15:58, January 19, 2010 (UTC)
I believe it ended about 2 years before it with Kiyomori's death. So it is highly unlikely. Feudal Japan seems more logical as there would be about 2 generations between Ezio and the new ancestor. -- Master Sima Yi 16:01, January 19, 2010 (UTC)
Indeed it is. But honestly, Desmond has no Asian features at all O.o new character, perhaps? - SilverSummonerTaLk 16:03, January 19, 2010 (UTC)
Well, if the ancestor would have married a Western woman, and their child(ren) would, and so on and on, I'm pretty sure you won't see any Asian features again. Got me? XD -- Master Sima Yi 16:06, January 19, 2010 (UTC)
haha... XD yeah I got you~ but I think the features will still be visible up until 3 or 4 generations (this is purely based on observation XD). Unless 400 years is enough to build more than 4 generations, Feudal Japan is not really suitable cuz Desmond has no Asian features and thus will make some plotholes~ XD you know what I mean? - SilverSummonerTaLk 16:26, January 19, 2010 (UTC)
Agree with Silver, 400 years can hold about 5 or 6 generations (sometimes more), but Desmond ain't got nothing asian. Maybe they will move to Elizabethane England or Industrial Revolution or something like it, to make Desmond irish descendant and go to EUA. Although... we got any proof he's really american besides the language and accent? -- D. Cello 16:47, January 19, 2010 (UTC)
400 years is plenty of time for 10-15 generations. 72.218.224.254 00:50, December 1, 2010 (UTC)
I was hoping for ancient Egypt because:
-We know much about the politcs
-the cities were very large
-there are still temples we haven't found ...ThibautB 20:18, January 16, 2011 (UTC)

FYI

FYI

Assassin's Creed 2's sales have reached 8 million worldwide and Ubisoft is wasting no time on the game's follow-up. Assassin's Creed 3 was announced last month by Ubisoft in a press release and they revealed that it would out during the 2010-2011 fiscal year. During a third quarter financial call, Ubisoft has revealed more details about the game. We already knew that it would include a multiplayer mode and that it would again star ACII's Ezio. Ubisoft's CEO Yves Guilletmot announced today that the new game will take place in Rome. He stated that this time Ezio will "strike directly at the heart of the Templars order in Rome". He also mentioned the game's multiplayer mode that "players will also be able to challenge their friends in a very innovative assassination multiplayer." We will have to wait to see exactly what that will mean when more details are released.

We expect Assassin's Creed 3 to be here hopefully this holiday season but no official date has been given yet. I'm sure we can probably expect it to be announced for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PC like previous games.

killer garry (talk) 07:09, February 15, 2010 (UTC)

Altough the site says it's AC3, the Ubisoft press release only states it's a new episode. Until we have a confirmation from a Ubisoft Release with the name "Assassin's Creed III" in full letters, it will be considered a spin-off, not a sequel. -- D. Cello 17:13, February 15, 2010 (UTC)

This site has the quote, which is in this article, however it states more from another producer and even has (assuming) concept art(?) I'm not sure the information is valid. And the art could be fake, but I'm just not sure if it should be included in this article. http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-3-Games/Assassins-Creed-3-will-see-Desmond-become-the-Ultimate-Assassin/m-p/9792714 -- Altaïr March 09, 2010 (UTC)

The concept art seems to be fanmade. There are no Ubisoft patches and there's an author sign. We can't assume it to be official, since, officially, nothing has been stated about it. -- D. Cello 23:00, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, that looks like its straight from Deviant Art or something of that nature. But is AC3 really going to be just a continuation of Ezio's Story!? If it is, im somewhat dissapointed, i really like Desmond, his ingenious part of the story is why i PLAY these games. I mean, atleast Feudal Japan sounds more sound (though even that seems a little far off.) Oh, and i apologise if that was a little difficult to understand, my english isn't perfect. :) J.h.jaraub 23:12, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

No, it's not said to be a continuation of Ezio's life. The next Ezio's game is a separate game, like Bloodlines. -- D. Cello 23:18, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

The Turk Crusade?

I was a bit baffled when I read this, cause I don't know what this means. Are people sure that he doesn't mean Third Crusade instead of Turk Crusade, although I read it from other sites too, but again one could have copied it from the other, thereby copying wrong information. -- Altaïr March 09, 2010 (UTC)

Agree. Turk crusade donesn't make a lot of sense. oO -- D. Cello 23:03, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

Setting

I remember Lucy talking about subject 16s talking about africa, the middle east and afew other places, and then having an obsession with Italy. So I was thinking that maybe Japan, or, possibly Africa. Of course there where more countries, but i think Africa could be likely because, as said before, traits can be passed down and still stay, but skin tone, if partnering with a western person, and agasin with a western person, it would most likely get whiter each time. And Desmonds skin is still slightly darker than others, so its semi plausible. just an idea.LOLKING 21:08, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

  • It could also just be referring to 'Those who came before' as they originated from Africa. Doesn't take away that Africa is a potential setting, cause it would make sense they would investigate Africa if they want to find out what truly happened in order what is going to happen... Altaïr 23:20, March 10, 2010 (UTC)
I just hope they surprise us with a great, fun and inexpected setting like Italy in Renaissance. Making three good games in a row isn't a easy task. -- D. Cello 21:29, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

Japan

Me again, sorry, my crazy ideas, know this should probably be on a forum, but people are saying it wont be Japan because Desmond dosnt look asian. But they changed Desmonds look slightly in assassins creed to make him look more like ezio, so they could tweak him just a little to make him look of asian decent. like just a bit, bit thinner eyes maybe, hope im not being racist. LOLKING 02:55, April 9, 2010 (UTC)

I don't think that will happen. To change someone from Syrian to Italian is not far stretched, cause Altaïr and Ezio both look Caucasian. The reason they changed him is just so they could use the same model for all three of them. Even Altaïr had Ezio's face, but they're still meant to be the same. But changing to Asian would require a larger change in his looks. It could still be set in Japan, as one Assassin travels there maybe... But again we have no idea if this is true -- Altaïr 5:01 April 9, 2010 (UTC)
My 2 euros on the subject: Asian isn't jsut stretched eyes, there also skincolor changes. And we have to consider that the games are moving *forward* in time, first Middle Ages, now Renaissance. To go back to Japan, maybe could not happen. -- D. Cello 03:44, April 9, 2010 (UTC)
Well the skin colour can be explained. I mean look at Brandon Lee. He's a half-blood. So his skin is more Caucasian. That's how you could explain it. However I don't think it will take place in Japan... It would be odd to switch from the renaissance to Japan. -- Altaïr 14:57 April 9, 2010 (UTC)
It definitly can't be in japan because wouldn't the time everyone is pointing out be a jump backwards form the 1400's? also it will probably be in modern times don't know the place though im guessing the whole world because he has to collect all the PoE and go to the temples so it will probably either mainly be in the U.S. or in europe because the company abstergo is in english so
Cello, there is no need to go back. The probably most famous era of Japan was Feudal Japan, which took place in around the 16th century. Oda Nobunaga would make for a great villain. Concerning the skin colour, the ancestor doesn't need to be full blood Asian. He could still be half-Caucasian. -- Master Sima Yi 11:53, June 4, 2010 (UTC)
Well just because it's set in Japan(not saying it will or it won't)doesn't mean that the new assassin essentially needs to be Japanese. There was actually a small population of Portuguese and other Europeans living in Japan at the time so its quite possible for Assassin's to reach Japan. Parant22 05:25, December 17, 2010 (UTC)

Ezio?

I read recently that due to the reception of the second game, Ezio has been confirmed to make a return... Has this changed? O.o Batjimi 16:54, April 24, 2010 (UTC)

Ezio will be back in a game that (currently) is called 'Assassin's Creed II: Episodes', which is a continuation of the second game, however it's not 'Assassin's Creed III'. Altaïr 19:30, April 24, 2010 (UTC)

Ancient Africa

I have reason to believe the main character and setting will be from/in Ancient Africa. If you listen to Assassin's creed 2 Dialogue, when talking about Desmond's ancestors, they say some have been from many important places, and they name three as examples, which I quote, "The Middle East, Ancient Africa, and Italy." Two are already made (Ezio/Italy, Altair/Middle East). So does anyone think AC3 may take place in ancient africa? 74.5.181.154 20:45, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

  • It's likely, after all Those Who Came Before are from ancient Africa. So it is possible that they'll investigate the roots Altaïr 00:46, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
I can't see how that would work. There are no buildings to climb in Ancient Africa, let alone high buildings to use as view points. Besides, how they mix it with history? There is almost nothing known about Ancient Africa, as for as I know. -- Master Sima Yi 14:21, September 29, 2010 (UTC)
For some reason I've felt that AC3 might consist of many different time era's. Instead of focusing on just one ancestor it might focus on many. As well as I think AC3 will be the final game. So I think Desmond will play a major if not the biggest part because the entire reason of AC2 was to train Desmond. Why train him if he wasn't going to be used? Griffmstr835 23:02, October 4, 2010 (UTC)
Well I think that Ancient Africa would be amazing but I agree with Master Sima Yi, Ancient Africa isn't quite known for sprawling cities like you would see in other places in the world at the time, unless you were considering northern Africa where you find such civilizations such the Egyptians, which I am currently hoping for. There is such a rich culture and it just begs to be used. It would definately give a spin on the series by going backwards in time rather than forwards and by having a character based in Ancient Egypt, it could tie in with Altair and give new information on Adam/Eve. Parant22 21:11, December 16, 2010 (UTC)
By Ancient Africa, they could mean in the time after or before the first "apocalypse" of the earth. Like the first several hundred years after but before humans reverted to history as we know it without the POEs. In the truth video and in the Revelations video at the end, they showed the capacity early human civilization had for architecture and technology. There's very little known about Ancient Africa because most history is Eurocentric for the most part. (Let's not debate on this please.) There very well could have been tall buildings and urban-like cities thousands of years ago in Africa. Not every African country had grass-roof huts in dusty plains on the burning plains of Africa. Eastern Africa like Eritrea and Ethiopia would be a good pick too. Strang3Happ3nings 07:54, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

Siege of Serdica to Thomas the Slav's siege of Constantinople

Okay, this REALLY doesn't belong here, but what the face. Between 809 to 823, there were several battles between the Bulgarian Empire and the Byzantine Empire. During this timeframe, many Byzantine Emporers were killed, most suspiciously, and some even ASSASSINATED. SO wouldn't it be awesome to run around Early Medieval Bulgaria! I think so. Also, while I was doing some research, I found a picture of the ruins of Pliska, which had walls with lots or artistic ridges, perfect for free running. I don't know but it sounds almost perfect for Desmond to become the ULTIMATE ASSASSIN. Also, anyone who has even scratched the surface of this period would know that after the Battle of Pliska, Khan Krum of Bulgaria lined his enemy's skull in sliver and used it as a wine goblet. I dunno, but that would make an epic PoE.

Revolutionary France

Spoilers ahead, so unless you've finished Brotherhood, do not read on. If you do, that's your fault.

Anyhow, when the present day gang is in the Temple of Juno just as Desmond grabs the apple, Sean has begun speaking of the Phrygian cap and Masonic Eye which appear next to eachother as holograms in the temple, and he points out that there is only one place in time those symbols meet. Then, time itself freezes, and Desmond makes with the stabbity stab.

So, i'm speculating that because the only place where those two meet is Revolutionary France, that the third one will be set there. I mean, the DLC that came out recently has Mont Saint-Michel as a map, and all the NPCs, including heralds and such, have a newly created French soundboard.

So, what do y'all think? 122.104.203.150 06:05, January 18, 2011 (UTC)

That's what I was hoping :) But those eyes and temples and stuff also appear in the American Revolution. But it will most likely be French, knowing it is made by Ubisoft ->Montreal<-. (Are we supposed to add this?). YourFace180 January 18th 2011

Supposed to add what? -- Master Sima Yi 11:19, January 19, 2011 (UTC)
I think he/she means to the actual page itself, but I suggest not to, as it's just speculation at this point. Though, a year during those times is mentioned in one of the rift puzzles. 122.104.203.150 12:24, January 19, 2011 (UTC)
I ment the whole 'YourFace180 January 19th 2011'??
Yes, that anon is right, YourFace180. And that is NOT signing your posts. I will not even bother explaining. I've done it so many times already, I refuse to do so anymore. It even says how to sign your posts above the edit section. But you're not supposed to read that, of course. -- Master Sima Yi 17:23, January 19, 2011 (UTC)
Revolutionary France or around the American Revolution is my guess, for the reasons stated above and my own observations of a small, seemingly, or completely, unimportant pattern of dates. AC : 1191, AC2;BH;R : 1476-1512. The pattern is there are 300 years between the events in AC and AC2;BH;R, adding another 300 years would put the date around the late 1700s and/or early 1800s. 12/21/12 Release Date?

Since It's been confirmed on the site listed in the actual page that ACIII won't be released in 2011, and instead in 2012, wouldn't it go along with the theme of the series to have it released on the date of the apocalypse? The only problem I can see with it would be that you'd be essentially playing the game in the past by that point, but it's certainly a very likely date, considering that the date is central in the series. Another possibility would be the 72 day of 2012- in other words, the 11 or 12 of March (I don't remember whether or not it's a leap year). Numerically, those are the only two numbers I can think of, at least right now.

The planned release date for Assassin's Creed 3 is unknown at the moment, except for the month: December 2012. The developers have stated that they would not want gamers to play a game set in the future when it details the end of the world. So either it'll be before the 21st or after.

EzioA7 07:01, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

Prague?

Even if it's not a central point in the story, I'd certainly love to see Prague featured in-game. What's special about Prague? Essentially, Prague has little to offer that is too special- it has some great, very urban and European architecture, and also seems nearly built for Assassin's Creed (if you look up a picture of some of its landmarks, you'll see that Ubisoft could almost copy it and not need to add anything to it to make it climb-able). However, that's beside the point. The real appeal of setting it in Prague is the seasons- you could have variety. Snow in a winter time, or beautiful autumn foliage, along with summertime- Prague has it all. Along with this, it's also got a fitting history. In the 1600s, Prague was home to several important events, including many events and assassinations which could be attributed to templars or assassins. Combine this with the fact that the 1600s are before guns became too popular and after ACII, and the fact that Ubisoft wishes to surprise people with their direction, means that Prague has a very good chance of being our next location- or, better yet, only one of them.

Giovanni Borgia

This is a bit of an outlandish idea, but considering Giovanni Borgias contact with POEs and now a revelation of "Philosopher's stone" type effects, wouldn't be kinda cool if he turned out to be more involved in future AC games? His death has not yet, as far as I know, been documented in game, this kinda opens up the possibility of future major involvement in AC games. I'm aware this is a bit of a long shot, but Project Legacy has been focusing on him a considerable amount, perhaps hinting at his importance? Wishful thinking, I know, but I believe that would be crazy awesome. Rehevkor 03:15, January 22, 2011 (UTC)

Giovanni Borgia? As in Perotto Calderon's son he had with Lucrezia? Interesting idea. But hasn't his story been basically explored in Project Legacy? P3rf3ctNBetw33n 23:06, September 11, 2011 (UTC)

Ancient Greece?

Seriously, I think Ancient Greece would be an awesome idea. You could have Archimedes make weapons for the new assassin. Also, Greece had plenty of types of armor and weapons, so customization wouldn't be a problem. Yes it wouldn't make a lot of sense to go back in time, but they can get over it. Also the Greek hoplite's shield could be integrated into combat some how.

I would love Ancient Greece, plus one of the developers did say when asked if it was the French Revolution "Who says it has to go forward in time?" so it is definately a possibility. YourFace180 17:36, February 1, 2011 (UTC)

Surprised No One Though Of This

So, yeah, probably should put this on forums, but such things fash me unduly. Anyways, I thought I knew exactly what was going to happen, and looked online, and no one seems to have thought of it! According to the final dialog, he has to find Eve, the Sixth. Sixth? We've got him, Shaun, and Rebecca. Who are the other two? The answer, of course, is Altaïr and Ezio; through the bleeding effect, they are present through him. Now, he could do some crazy time-traveling thing to go back to the Ones Who Came Before and find Eve, but that's unlikely. Besides, he needs to figure out where the temples were, and unravel the mystery of the Ones Who Came Before, and that means actually meeting them firsthand. And there's still the issue of 'The Ultimate Assassin.' We know who that is! Ladies and gentlemen, the main character of Assassin's Creed III will be a woman. And she will be the very first assassin. -76.21.3.11 05:38, February 25, 2011 (UTC)

French & Indian War/Revolutionary War London

As anyone who completed Brotherhood knows, there was mention of the Masonic Eye and Phyrgian Cap. The Masonic Eye is very closely tied with early US History, with many prominent people being members. And, also, the Freemasons- represented by a Masonic Eye- were very closely tied with the Illuminati. I'm pretty sure these factions would be templars. As such, that makes the revolutionary war era very possible- however, I doubt that we'll play in America. For one, the main cities were Boston, New York and I believe Philadelphia, though I'm not positive. As far as I know, these were very small, underdeveloped cities compared to- say- London. As such, I feel that we can assume we will be going to London and meeting many prominent British people. Other locations that may be visited could be New York or Boston for a section set traveling to America, where you could meet the likes of Washington or Thomas Jefferson- Oxford and Manchester in England- and, if this somehow ends up being even partially set in the French and Indian War, we could be visiting Paris to infiltrate that city. Really, this era is perfect for Assassin's Creed; France, America and Britain all become viable locations to visit.

98.231.11.167 01:45, April 8, 2011 (UTC)

I agree. London during that time had a lot of crowded buildings and streets that are perefect for an AC game. Plus it would be the first AC game to have cities that are explorable in different countries to.TheDudeMan123456 23:37, October 29, 2011 (UTC)

Little bit of my ancestory

i was thinking... How about Norwegians (Who share ancestry with vikings and still have fights) as Mercenaries in, say, Ireland? Could be during the time of the tater famine, due to the fact that (slight) research in germ warfare had begun, and Abstergo was most proud of it's achievements in meds. Potatoe famine could be something spread by Templars, who would be the Brits, the laws were harsh, the Ottomans could have transported supplies through the food ships, etc.

Removal/Major Edit

I've always had a problem with this article, it has 95% nothing to do with the game itself except for the very last paragraph. I suggest we remove it until more information is given about the game itself and what is up with the spoiler alert at the top? Does the game EVER talk about Patrice's works in AC2? I didn't think so, does anyone agree with me or am I just ranting for no reason? Jamie McGarity 05:31, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

18th Century

Well as I see it, Altair lived around the Late 1100's (12th Century), Ezio llived in the Late 1400's to Early 1500's (15th/16th Century), while Desmond continues his quest during the 21st Century. So it seems logical that ACIII should be in the 18th century (1700's) till possibly Early 19th Century (12th->15/16th->18th?->21st century)

Also varying where it is could lead to different periods of time: in North America: American War of Independance (1775 - 1783), Indian Wars (1783 - 1842*) Mexican War of Independance (1810 - 1821), etc.

Or in South America: Latin American Wars of Independance (1800-1829)

Or in Europe: French Revolution (1789–1799), Napoleonic wars (1805 -1812), etc.

Or Russia: Several Russo-Turkish Wars (1770's -1820's*), Napoleonic Wars, Russo-Persian War (1826-1828), etc.

There are a number of different possibilities following many of these wars, but this is just a prediction of what it could be and this is not in any way 100 per cent accurate.

user:AdamantiumBladez

  • The wars still carried on, but were constantly stopped and restarted.

If this were to be correct I would say it would be most likely the French Revolution, you know, the masonic eye and phyrgian cap on the Declaration of the Rights of Man.99.185.121.63 22:30, January 5, 2012 (UTC)

American Civil War AC3

I'm sure there will be somthing in the Assassin's Creed universe about the American Cival war. And I suspect it will be AC3 beacuse in the new trailer Assassin's Creed: Revelations - Making the Encyclopedia. In the back at 3:44 and other parts you can see a picture about somthing assassin related with American Cival war theme.

Ubisoft Interview sheds more light. Well sorry to say but it's not going to be about the past. In a interview with Ubisoft, the only piece of information the gave on AC3 is that it will take place in 2012 as the Assassins try to prevent the end of the world. Now I suspect it will have something to do with the Apple of Eden being a piece of a device to end the world.

Unless you source that, I find it very hard to believe. With the indication at the end of Brotherhood and the fact that Ubisoft promised a new ancestor for AC3, there will definitely be more than just a present day setting. So link the interview you mentioned. And sign your posts. StPerkele 12:24, September 11, 2011 (UTC)
Okay, the source is Wikipedia, the assassins creed series, games or storyline, assassins creed 3 article, in there is a link to the interview. I can't add a link as I'm on my smartphone right now.

Just speculations!

I hope to the gods of old that I'm not right about this beacuse I do not like the history of America. I do not understand it, I do not care and it's not intressting.

Salute Assassins...

Assuming that you're the same person as the previous post: That was an artwork by somebody who is not working for Ubisoft. No this post above yours is not from me (2012 theory guy). I'm new to this system so I'm not sure how to sign my posts, but I'll just got by Jason D. The interview I found was on the Wikipedia page for the game series, under the side topic Assassins Creed 3.

Sign your posts with four tildes (this symbol ~) ;) Found the interview you talked about (keep in mind that it is over two years old), however the article also mentions something else which I already pointed out: "The game will introduce a new character in an entirely new setting." So 2012 will obviously play a role, but at the same time we will meet a new ancestor and a new time period. However, I still doubt that it will be American Revolution. I'm 80% sure that the French Revolution is up next, but until then.. we can only speculate. StPerkele 21:38, September 11, 2011 (UTC)
Okay thanks! Does that work if I don't have an account? Yea I don't suspect (account the take of the previous games) theyd do just 2012. They probably need to use the animus to find certain things, like in AC2, but then again they may not do that since they've done it for they past couple of games, ( AC was to find the apple, AC2 was to find hidden temples, haven't gotten to BH yet)

But I think AC3, if my theory is right, will lead up perfect with a AC inspired, modern day, full length movie! I have great plans for the series of Movies I'm planning, but my main idea for the sequel of the first movie is bassed in a post apocalypse world, were Leo, (main characters name) uses his skills to survive and defeat a evil government trying to rise ( Leo will ether be a relative of Da Vinci, or Da Vinci and Ezio's blood line) so I hope the game works out perfect for my films.

Don't intend to spoil your plans, but.. let me put it like this: Leonardo doesn't have any ancestors, because he is not that much into procreation ;) StPerkele 22:36, September 11, 2011 (UTC)
: Hahaha very true, but what if it were his siblings that made the ancestors? If not it's totally fine, I'll just make him a relative of Desmond. Thanks for your insight!
: Jason D. 209.91.107.219 01:01, September 12, 2011 (UTC)

StPerkele Thank you for the answear but I still think it will be under the American revolution and not the France revolution sadly. What is your prof about the France revolution? I agree it is a great and perfect time for a assassins creed game but it seams it will not take place in the time. Desmonds is american and I think his family have lived their for generations so maybe the France revolution is not an option.
The end of Brotherhood - the Phyrgian cap and the Freemasons symbol, mentioned by Shaun. "They only appear together in one place.." - that's the French "Déclaration des Droits de l'Homme et du Citoyen" which was along other things responsible for the French Revolution. And the simple fact that Paris would be a perfect setting, the French Revolution a perfect storyline and so on. StPerkele 13:18, September 15, 2011 (UTC)

Theory

It would make sense that one of Ezio descendants is french becuse in brotherhood he and Bartolomeo have a discussion on where ezio learned french to which he replies "There were a couple french girls in Firenze."and we know how Ezio was during his early years.75.134.112.33 22:21, September 21, 2011 (UTC)Anonymous

If that was the case, then there is no way Desmond could be viewing Ezio's later memories. I am not going to explain why, look it up on your own time.Einsteinium99 22:26, September 21, 2011 (UTC)

I have to agree with Einsteinium on this but you never know. But Ubisoft have always been good at listening to what fans want and France, Victorian London and Feudal Japan have been the most requested so it may be feature in a different trilogy or in a different way. I doubt that it will be through Desmonds ancestor though but even if it is I will still be happy because Ubi have not failed to meet nearly everyones expectations. -- KaloneousHelpDesk 03:28, September 23, 2011 (UTC)

New Protagonist?

Everyone seems to be focused on when AC3 will be set, but does anyone know anything about the new central character at all?

I heard one rumour that we're going to be getting a girl to play with, which I'd really enjoy, but the only image I've seen so far looks like a fan-made Photoshop job.

Do we know that Desmond will be the Animus subject, or will we be looking at Subject 18 for the game? Perhaps 'Eve' going through the treatment in order to learn her own Assassin skills with the bleeding effect, just as Desmond did? If so it's possibly she could be Templar, which would mean that Altair's relationship with Maria was foreshadowing Desmond's with 'Eve'.

Sorry, just rambling now. :)

Release

Anyone think it'll be released on December 21st? That'd be awesome. ~~Soldier Flame 20:34, November 23, 2011 (UTC)

could it be Desmond?

is it all possible that Desmond may be the "new" protagonist I mean in the sense that we never have truly played as him like we have Altair, or Ezio. I mean we spent alot of time fixing his mind, making him feel at peace with his Assassins heritage, and he has to unlock the Grand Temple and stop the world from ending, i mean yea Ubisoft could throw in another Ancestor, but I think Desmond may be the "next" main character, i mean this is all sepeculation on my part, but it seemd fitting to me.IskenderBlade 14:14, November 26, 2011 (UTC)

Ubisoft once remarked that we would get a new ancestor with every main game (AC = Altaïr, ACII = Ezio). So if that were true, we would get a new ancestor. Though, of course, nothing has been confirmed and we simply can't be sure whether or not Ubisoft is sticking to their old plans. Nesty Contact me! 14:18, November 26, 2011 (UTC)

true, true that is a valid point, but also at one point it was stated that both Ezio and Altair were related, and that had since be reconnted, i mean things can change, now im not saying this is how i want the game, the going through the part is my favorite aspect of the game play its awesome. it was just an idea since we had to mess with desmond so much this go around, i dont know i guess will just have to wait till next year. IskenderBlade 14:23, November 26, 2011 (UTC)

I read on Wikipedia that Assassin's Creed 3 would introduce a new protagonist and possibly a new ancestor. Let's just hope it's longer than Brotherhood or Revelations were, and just as epic as II, Brotherhood and Revelations. EzioA7 07:06, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

Modern Multiplayer ideas.

Modern Multiplayer

I wonder if in AC3 (or in future AC games) they'll set the multiplayer in modern cities and towns. It would be very interesting to see how the do it and what characters from our society they would choose.

I'd love to see these as multiplayer characters:

Housewife- Rolling Pin

Bin man- bag full of glass/metal

The Polo Player- Polo Stick

The Granny - Walking Frame

With public toilets for hiding spots!

RussellSparrow 16:18, November 26, 2011 (UTC)

Those multiplayer ideas sound very comical compared to the seriousness of the rest of the Assassin's Creed series. While the idea of modern environments is awesome, I think Assassin's Creed largely focuses on the memories of ancestors, and that it is likely that future games will include some modern gameplay segments but will be more Animus-focal. EzioA7 07:08, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

Set in Egypt?

"On November 18, 2011, PSM3 reported that Assassin's Creed III is to be set in Egypt, which states in its rumour section that the 2012 sequel could use the setting for "at least part of the game." That information tallies with hints dropped inAssassin's Creed: Revelations, Computer and Video Games reported. Computer and Video Games wrote: "Darim, the son of past protagonist Altair, namechecks the ancient Egyptian capital of Alexandria at the end of Revelations, noting that he has moved books there from the Assassin's library."

That's what I saw on Wikipedia's AC: Revelations, Sequel Section.

What do you guys think?Detective.XD.McCartneyXIII 11:48, November 28, 2011 (UTC)

Seems plausible enough. Ancient Egypt would be great, but every AC game so far has been full of historical figures that can be used to be put in either faction, Assassin or Templar. So they have to choose a time period when Egypt had such people. I don't have Wikipedia up right now, so I don't know when that time would be. I think it'd be nice to see an African Assassin, especially if it's female! If not for the whole game, at least a part and I'll be satisfied. Desmond needs his time to shine, too. He didn't learn from the best for nothin' (I hope.)Strang3Happ3nings 00:16, November 29, 2011 (UTC)

A Female? For me that is unfitting. Desmond goes back to the animus, only to find his wee-wee gone! I would not play ACIII if it has a female character. It's like it destroyed the main hero bloodline. Altair was the best badass and a legend. Ezio was badass and looks up to Altair. A female? Nah. Females are fitting to be Deuteragonists or so, not a protagonist. That's my opinion. I wish AC3 would be very long. About a hundred hours of gameplay (XD). One part is the ancestor's story, and the other is Desmond's...Detective.XD.McCartneyXIII 11:18, November 29, 2011 (UTC)

Whats wrong with females? 11:52, November 29, 2011 (UTC)Overlord Divine

Obviously, we're dealing with a non-female here. However, I think he will get his way and the protagonists will remain male, seeing as the main fanbase of AC is male. Sadle, many of them would not want to control a female character. As for the location, nothing has been released/confirmed by Ubisoft, so we can't be sure... Nesty Contact me! 12:12, November 29, 2011 (UTC)

Guys can play as Tomb Raider with no problem and it still makes millions of dollars from unit sales, but a female character in AC is just too much. -sigh- Oh well. I tried. I'm one out of the small number of female AC players who had some hope, but I know UbiSoft won't go in that direction. If they want to keep making money, they'll keep it male. I don't think it's necessarily a sexist thing going on, so to say "No a woman wouldn't be able to fight 10 guards alone!" or "She'd be better off being an Assassin disguised as a courtesan!" would make me not buy anymore UbiSoft games. When it comes to physical strength, yes, women are inferior, but they are just as capable of disarming or dispatching a grown man. Anywho, what I wanted to say is if the main character isn't female, at least give us a strong female ally to the male Assassin that's not incapable of fighting and needs to be saved all the time. No Mary Sues. Strang3Happ3nings 19:04, November 29, 2011 (UTC)

I'm female myself... And I shall never accuse Ubisoft of sexism. Look at the characters: First we had Maria Thorpe, who was perfectly capable to defend herself. Then we got Caterina Sforza, and I don't think I'll have to explain anything on her character. Let's just say she wasn't portrayed as "a weak woman". We also got Claudia Auditore da Firenze, who was able to dispatch quite a few guards on her own. No, Ubisoft can't be blamed for sexism. Keeping the protagonist male is simply a good marketing move, I guess. Nesty Contact me! 19:11, November 29, 2011 (UTC)

That is one point, exactly. The base is that of a male's. It would be kind of 'out-of-place' if it's a female. No sexism. Tomb Raider is okay, but it started with a female protagonist, that's why. AC started with a male one, so Ubisoft should be consistent. Oh, and I am actually rooting for France. Shaun said that the Eye of Providence and the Phrygian Cap only appears at a certain thing, and that thing (forgot what it is) is related to France. Well then, if it's set into the time of the Jacobin Assassins..... Detective.XD.McCartneyXIII 12:36, November 30, 2011 (UTC)

Now, France wouldn't be a bad idea considering Shaun "hinted" at it. Being able to storm the Bastille and hop between buildings in Paris, Lyon, Lille, Versailles and all that good stuff would be fun. I speak French, so it'd be interesting to learn the curse words :D. Revolutionary France sounds good since they have historical characters that could be Templars (King Louis XVI, his allies, but his wife, I don't know. Someone who says the homeless should eat cake might not be threatening.) So far, they've done a good job with accents, so it won't be too fake-sounding. However, the French Revolution is never mentioned in any of the games except for that thing about the Phrygian cap and Masonic Eye. If you read up on Egypt, it came into contact with Rome a long time ago, the Ottoman turks in the 1500s, France during Napoleon's time, and built the Suez Canal with the help of the French in 1869. After that, British and French influence came in (Britain basically controlled it from then until their independence), so Egypt is a very special place. They even had their own revolution in the 1900s. Strang3Happ3nings 17:52, November 30, 2011 (UTC)

I've got a hope it's in Egypt as it has a lot of cool imagery and architecture to work from; I've got no problems with seeing a female protagonist as Shao Jun was cool in Embers but I think the protagonist will be male seeing as Desmond is.--Sata1991 15:34, January 1, 2012 (UTC)

I red in Game Informer ages ago that it will be set in london and that you will assassinate Jack the Ripper

If the game were to be set in Egypt, I think that there are a lot of events that can be shaped into an AC game. The restoration period of Egypt, in which they became a British colony can be further explored. I think that Egypt possesses at this time a lot of architectural details that fit the criteria of places such as Rome and Florence. Cairo, Alexandria and several other places such as Tripoli in Lybia can be places we visit in our adventure. Now, this is all speculation, but events such as the Battle of the Nile and figures like Muhammad Ali and the Khedives have never been explored in games before. I would love to see AC come to this region as I also had to do some research in college about this time period. - Denglongfist 21:18, January 17, 2012 (UTC)

Darim mentioning Alexandria once is anything but a hint. Then shall we consider all the references to the Dutch in the ACR novel as a hint to the next game too? It holds no relevance. Plus, they've done the Middle East two times now, I honestly don't think they would do it again. -- Master Sima Yi 08:57, January 21, 2012 (UTC)

20th century

America, 1969-1980 I think this is an epic time period, and would be great to be Desmon's dad.

In the 1970s, hundreds of people commited mass suicide over strange beliefs, strange goings were happening in Cali with the first gay mayor and his aid going rouge, and of course, the whole rosewell stuff going on as well as other conspiracy goodies.

There are literally tons of really cool stuff to do.

Sign your posts. The 20th century has been heavily handled before, mainly during the Glyphs and Rifts. I think it's too close to Desmond's time period for it to work out, and it wouldn't be much different from the Desmond part of the game. -- Master Sima Yi 08:57, January 21, 2012 (UTC)
