Side memories and events

Side memories were events in the Assassin's Creed series, but could not be exactly determined in the timeline as a historical event. As a result, side memories were optional missions that could be attempted or completed at any time in-game.

Assassin's Creed
Edit
In the original Assassin's Creed, side memories were not as in-depth as most other games. They could be very generic at times, and were done for achievements and in-Animus advantages.[1] Side memories in Assassin's Creed included:
Assassin's Creed II
Edit
In Assassin's Creed II, side memories were expanded heavily, being more in-depth and even tied in with the story at times. Completing them would help increase Desmond's synchronization with Ezio Auditore in the Animus, and the completion of all the side memories was vital for 100% synchronization with Ezio.[2] These memories included:
- Beat Up events
- Races
- Assassination contracts
- Courier assignments
- Feather collecting
- Unlocking View Points
- Templar Lairs
- Assassin Tombs
- Monteriggioni Statuettes
- Upgrading Monteriggioni
- Notoriety mini-missions

Edit
In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, side memories continued in the same vein as those from previous games in the series.[3] These side memories were as follows:

Assassin apprentices
Edit
The Assassin apprentices in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood were capable of performing many automated side contracts in and outside of Rome, in order to gain experience and further better themselves into stronger Assassins.
Assassin's Creed: Revelations
Edit
Assassin's Creed: Revelations cut down on the number of side missions, but continued to expand on existing concepts.
- Recapturing Assassin Dens
- Piri Reis's bomb tutorials
- Recruiting Assassins
- Master Assassin missions

Mediterranean Defense
Edit
Much like the side contracts in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Revelations also allowed Assassin apprentices to embark on side contracts in various cities along the Mediterranean region, though another element was added in the form of liberating them from Templar control, with rewards ranging from bomb ingredients, currency, and additional experience for Assassins through capturing them.
