Milano

Milan, on the feast of Santo Stefano

Milan (Italian: Milano) is a city in northern Italy. In the Renaissance, it was a target of Rodrigo Borgia's plot to unite Italy under the Templar banner.

History

In 1476, Galeazzo Maria Sforza of Milan, and Lorenzo de' Medici of Florence formed an alliance, strengthening their own positions, and undermining Templar efforts to claim the cities. As such, Sforza was assassinated by three Templar agents - Carlo Visconti, Gerolamo Olgiati and Giovanni Lampugnani - during the festival of Santo Stefano.[1]

Having learnt of this plot through the interrogation of a captured soldier, the Assassin Giovanni Auditore da Firenze travelled to Milan to prevent the assassination, although he ultimately failed.[1]

The sale of the Shroud in 1944

On Christmas Day of 1944, in the midst of World War II, Milan became the rendezvous for a meeting between a Templar agent of Abstergo Industries, and a member of the Baguttiani family. There, the agent brought a large sum of money, in exchange for the Piece of Eden known as the Shroud.[2]
