Lykaon was a Greek healer who lived and worked in the Chora of Delphi in Phokis, Greece during the 5th century BCE. He was the brother of Agave, and they were the grandchildren of Praxithea, a former Pythia of Delphi.
Biography[]
At some point during the 430s BCE, Lykaon and Agave learned the truth about Praxithea’s prophecies: instead of being born from divine inspiration, they had been dictated by mere mortals and given under duress. Haunted by this revelation, Lykaon tried to figure out a way for Praxithea to make amends and redeem their whole family. By 431 BCE he had become convinced that his only option was to kill his grandmother with his own hands.[1]
Knowledgeable about herbs and medicine in general, he discovered mandrake growing along a stream near the Chora of Delphi. However, wolves were also fond of the river, and Lykaon himself was no match for the beasts. While he was pondering upon his plan, the Spartan misthios Kassandra happened to pass through the Chora, and offered her services to him after witnessing him treating a child. [2]
He accepted, asking her to fetch the mandrake. After she returned with the herbs, Lykaon prepared the medicine from it, and asked her to deliver the proper amounts to various people around the village, keeping a double dose for Praxithea.[2] Once she informed him that she’d been successful, she tagged along as Lykaon headed to meet his grandmother at her house on the outskirts of the village.[1]
Along the way, Lykaon revealed to Kassandra what he knew about Praxithea’s time as the Pythia, and the mercenary wondered if the words that had doomed her own family years before in Sparta, had been uttered by Praxithea.[1]

When they arrived at Praxithea’s home, however, Agave was there instead. She told Lykaon and Kassandra that bandits had assaulted Praxithea at her home and taken her with them somewhere else. Though Lykaon was distressed by the news, Agave considered their problem solved.[1]
Lykaon, torn with what he should do, remained with Agave at the house, while Kassandra sought out and rescued Praxithea from the bandits. Once safe, Lykaon faced his grandmother about what needed to be done.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
The name of Lykaon, a character in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey is derived from the Greek word λύκος (lúkos), which means 'wolf'. Lykaon also shares his name with a mythical king of Arkadia in Greek mythology, who was turned into a wolf by Zeus; this story served as the inspiration for the Lykaon Wolf in the same game.
Lykaon is one of the many characters in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey who can be romanced by the Eagle Bearer.
After his quest chain is done, regardless of the outcome, Lykaon wanders around the Chora of Delphi, but he cannot be interacted with.
