[edit] Assassin's Creed

Assassin's Creed is set in the Holy Land during the year 1191.

There are four cities for the player to explore: Acre, Damascus, Jerusalem, and Masyaf. There is also a "kingdom" between the cities which will be available for the player to ride through on horseback. Certain key landmarks have been seen in each of the cities, and will provide a vantage point for the player to further explore the city. Also for some brief plot-related events you get to visit Arsuf and Solomon's Temple.

[edit] Assassin's Creed II

Assassin's Creed II is set in Italy during the Renaissance (15th Century).

There are two confirmed cities for the player to explore: Venice and Florence. The large "kingdom" linking the cities in the first game has been replaced by countrysides. These countrysides are filled with missions and cities like San Gimignano in the Tuscany countryside, or Forlì (located West of Florence although it is actually situated North-East in reality) in what the developers call the "Wetlands". There is also a mountain zone between Florence and Venice called the Apennine Mountains. There are also other places that can be accessed like Romagna and then Monteriggioni. There would be much more to see. Rome is also a confirmed city.
