Léger-Félicité Sonthonax (7 March 1763 – 23 July 1813) was a French Girondist during the French Revolution who controlled 7,000 French troops in Saint-Domingue during part of the Haitian Revolution. In Saint-Domingue, he acted as the French civil commissioner.

On 29 August 1793, during the height of the slave revolt of the Haitian Revolution, Sonthonax radically declared all slaves to be freed, despite lacking the authority. Nonetheless, the Maroons saw Sonthonax as an enemy, and on orders of the rebel leader and Assassin Toussaint Louverture, Sonthonax was sent back to France on 24 August 1797.
