An interview on IGN spoke to one of the guys working on AC4 and he said they are gone away with the modern aspect - you are the modern person, this time. But you are an Abstergo Agent. Abstergo has upgraded the Animus so now anyone can dive it anyones family tree as far back as they wish. They have, I assumed, gotten Desmond's ancestory from when they had him captive in 2012 but the modern bits of AC4 are set in 2013. (Harlan1500 (talk) 10:44, March 5, 2013 (UTC))

There is a modern day story, but it's just more hidden this time. Ubisoft is not gonna leave the moden story altogether specialy since Juno is out of the box. And you're you in the game, but the Creative Director of AC4:BF said that we may see some old faces in moden day in one interview. The more I hear of AC4, the more I'm interested in it...and I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't get overhyped about the game until I see more info. I've always wanted an AC game that either had limited focus on the modern day aspect or a modern day aspect that felt as enjoyable and interesting as the historical aspects. To me, it seems this game will have a balanced amount of both modern day qualities. While there is somewhat of a lesser focus on the modern day, the parts of it that are in the game are interesting (to me, at least), what with the player being the main character and the possible inclusion of Erudito. I remember AC3 being marketed as a reboot of the series at one point, but, so far, AC4 feels much more like a reboot (a proper reboot, IMO). the plot maybe something like this: since the missile lunch was cancelled they are yousing you(the Abstergo agent from Abstergo Entertainment) to find another PoE. Erudito may try to convince the agent to do something else of give info the agent don't know if thay are in the game. The assassin's may try to send in more undercover agents again to try to stop the second atemt on a missile lunch since they didn't the chance to fire up the firs. I think we're playing as Otso Berg and I don't care that the creative director has said, "You're you". We were "us" in the multiplayer of ACB and ACR. We wern't told we were playing as Otso until a year later. - Hakametal (talk) 16:17, March 5, 2013 (UTC)

I just hope if there are any modern day playable parts that it is NOT in first person. It sucked so much balls when it was 1st person in AC Revelations.
