I'm planning to write an original story about Assassin's Creed, with original characters, none of the already known ones.

The story will be set in Africa. It could start around 1500~1550...as I would like to use Timbuktu as one of the places where the story happens.

Do you guys have some ideas that fit a story like this? Where would be a good place to start the story? How would the Assassin Order and the Templars reach Africa?

M4$t3r4$$4$$!n, yeah, it helps, thanks! I forgot about Mount Kilimanjaro...it's actually located in one of my most probable places to start the story: Tanzania, which is the location of the Kilwa Kisiwani city. At some point in history, europeans went there and besieged the city. That's the kind of scenario I'm looking for to start the plot. Cities being influenced by europeans.

Well as to how the Order reached Africa is not that much of an issue. If you have your story set place in East Africa it means that the Order could have come from so many places if there wasn't already an ancient order there. Greeks back in the days of Ptolemy, apparently had trade across the East African coast. The Order could have set up a den after Islamic powers like the Ottomans or the Persians set up trading with the Swahili coast. If you don't like that angle remember that there was an Assassin team in Calicut, India. Oh and even China traded with East African cities. So with all that, if you want the Assassins to come from anywhere they could be Portuguese, North African, Arab, Turkish, Persian, Indian or even Chinese. Hope that helps.
