Flow of Poison was a virtual representation of one of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad's genetic memories, relived through the Animus.
Description
Having learned from Basilisk about a plot to poison Acre's water supply, Altaïr set out for the city.
Dialogue
- Altaïr: The chaos of a siege, the fires... I'll have to watch out!
A nearby building collapsed, blocking Altaïr's path and alerting the local patrol.
- Altaïr: Those guards... They've seen me!
Altaïr used smoke bombs to evade the guards, and proceeded to scale the rooftops.
- Altaïr: This is going to be one tough jump...
Altaïr cleared the gap and maneuvered around the obstacle in the street, returning to ground level.
- Guard: I see him! He's here, let's get him!
Altaïr eliminated the guards and continued through the street, careful to avoid falling balls of fire. He proceeded to the rooftops and killed two archers, noticing more guards on the ground.
- Altaïr: I should use my crossbow to take out some guards!
After shooting the guards below and killing two more archers, Altaïr returned to the ground.
- Guard: Your path ends here! We've got you cornered, Assassin!
A nearby building collapsed on some guards.
- Guard: What was that noise? What happened with these...
Altaïr killed the remaining guards and made his way through the street.
- Woman: Help us! Please help! They're after us, they want to kill us!
Altaïr eliminated the would-be killers.
- Woman: Thank you for saving us!
- Guard: He's here, corner him! Call for reinforcements! Curse you, Assassin!
After dealing with the guards, Altaïr continued down the street, coming upon a lifted box.
- Altaïr: If I release that lever, the box will fall...
- Guard: Not so fast, Assassin! You'll never get past us!
After taking care of the guards, Altaïr released the lever, causing the box to drop. Altaïr climbed the box and returned to the rooftops, encountering a series of gaps in a nearby wall.
- Altaïr: This is going to be one tough jump... I must cross the city to their camp and stop their leader.
Altaïr successfully crossed the gap and returned to ground level, where he was met by a few Templars.
- Templar: Who dares to stand against the might of the Templars? Who has the courage to cross blades with us? Assassin... Stand back, you two! He's all mine!
Altaïr defeated the Templar leader and broke through the shield barricade. He approached the city gate, where he noticed Saracens approaching.
- Saracen: Quickly, bar the gates! Don't let them get through!
- Crusader: Attack! Destroy anything that moves!
The Crusaders managed to destroy the gate and kill the Saracens. Altaïr defeated the initial intruders.
- Altaïr: They just keep on coming... I must find a way to block this gate... I could use this catapult!
Altaïr fired the catapult at the structure around the destroyed gate door, causing it to collapse and bar any more Crusaders from entering. He then scaled the city wall.
- Altaïr: They're coming over the wall... I should take out their observers. That should stall them...
- Crusader: Attack! Destroy anything that moves!
- Altaïr: Those ballistas are loaded! I should use them!
Altaïr defended the city wall and made his way back to the street.
- Altaïr: I think I can pick off that executioner with my crossbow!
Altaïr eliminated the executioner and continued along the rooftops, where he encountered an archer.
- Altaïr: I'll have to get past that soldier... To get to that rooftop... But I'll need some knives to take him down...
Altaïr acquired the knives and crossed the rooftop safely.
- Altaïr: Those soldiers have taken that woman prisoner! They're only three... I can easily take them!
- Woman: Help me... Someone, please help!
- Altaïr: I should hurry and save her!
Altaïr approached the prisoner.
- Guard: Here's another! Close the trap! We've got you intruder!
Altaïr killed the guards and saved the woman.
- Archer: Crossbowmen, take aim! Fire!
Altaïr eliminated the archers and approached the city gates.
- Altaïr: I must put an end to this... I will reach their camp and stop this assault! I can't pass through here... But maybe there's a route above! I will reach their camp and stop this assault!
- Saracen 1: Defend the city!
- Crusader: Destroy them! Sweep anything that moves!
- Altaïr: It's pointless to fight them all!
- Saracen: Stop, Assassin!
- Altaïr: I should leave the city and head for their camp!
Altaïr scaled the city wall.
- Crusader: Don't let him get to the ballistas!
Altaïr used the ballistas to secure a safe path to the camp.
- Altaïr: And now, to enter the Templars' camp!
Upon nearing the camp, Altaïr was met by some guards.
- Guard: Halt, stranger! We have orders not to let anyone pass! And to disarm all civilians... Hand us your weapons!
- Altaïr: Alright.
Altaïr relinquished his weapons, save his Hidden Blade.
- Guard: Now turn around and leave this area!
Against the guard's order, Altaïr entered the camp.
- Altaïr: Maybe if I disguise myself as one of the Templars...I could enter their camp. That soldier looks easy to fool!
Altaïr killed the soldier and donned his guise.
- Altaïr: Now I can enter their camp!
While walking through the camp, as to not draw attention to himself, Altaïr was often addressed by his fellow soldiers.
- Guard 1: Stop wasting time, get about your business!
- Guard 2: How long until Acre falls?
- Guard 3: I reckon it'll be over by morning. They don't stand a chance...
- Guard 4: End of watch, eh? Get in!
- Guard 5: No wall can withstand our siege weapons!
Attempting to get further into the camp, Altaïr was stopped by two guards.
- Guard: Wait, soldier! You know the likes of you aren't allowed beyond these gates!
- Altaïr: I could pass if I distract them somehow!
Altaïr located a nearby bomb supply.
- Altaïr: A bit of fire should do the trick!
Altaïr lit the bomb and ran.
- Guard: Fire! Fire! The camp is on fire! Get help! Put out the flames!
With the guards distracted, Altaïr sneaked into the next area.
- Altaïr: These clothes won't help me in this area... I must remain hidden! More soldiers are coming! I should hide quickly!
Altaïr hid behind a large boulder, taking notice of the nearby catapult.
- Altaïr: I could tamper with that trebuchet... The guards mustn't see me, though...
Altaïr tinkered with the catapult, causing it to malfunction and kill the nearby guards.
- Altaïr: Better leave, now... More guards will come!
After hiding from the approaching guards, Altaïr made his way further into the camp.
- Altaïr: This area is crawling with soldiers... And it looks like only the scholars can pass through that gate! One of them has left the group... I should get his clothes... That is, if I could get past those soldiers!
Altaïr killed the scholar and put on his robes. Blending with the scholars, Altaïr made it further into the camp, stopping at a weapons depot.
- Altaïr: More siege weapons... I must destroy them, or the city won't stand a chance! But how can I get rid of those guards? I should attack them when they're alone!
- Guard 1: Our camp is well protected...
- Guard 2: I've heard Saladin's army marches this way!
Altaïr silently killed the surrounding guards and approached the weapons cache.
- Altaïr: Hmm... That door is locked!
Altaïr pushed the door open and entered the depot.
- Altaïr: A bit of fire should do the trick!
Altaïr ignited a bomb and left.
- Altaïr: Better leave, now... More guards will come!
- Guard: Fire! Fire! The camp is on fire!
With the guards distract, Altaïr made his way to the next part of the camp.
- Altaïr: The morning is getting close. They will start poisoning soon. I must find their commander before he can issue the order! I'll have to take him out!
Altaïr approached a Templar guarding a cage.
- Templar: Hold it there, scholar! You're not allowed to pass beyond this point! ...But I could look the other way for a moment... In return for a favor! I need the key to this cage here! A torturer has it... Back where you came from! Get me that key, and you may pass!
Altaïr pickpocketed the key and returned to the Templar.
- Altaïr: Here is your key!
- Templar: Well done, scholar! You may pass! Girl, let's get you out of there!
Approaching another gate, Altaïr was stopped by more guards.
- Guard: Stop, scholar! You may not enter!
- Altaïr: I need to distract them somehow... I'm sure I'll find something in that large tent... I must sneak in there!
Altaïr accessed the tent through a side entrance, where he found imprisoned Saracens being questioned by a Templar.
- Templar: Tell me: Where is it?
- Saracen: Your garrison transported it! You must know!
- Templar: I'll ask you one last time: Where is it?
Altaïr assassinated the Templar.
- Saracen: Stranger... come here! A great treasure... Lies buried... Behind the... Behind the... Arghh...
The Saracen died before he could finish his sentence.
- Altaïr: Where? Where is it? Oh well... I still need a diversion! Releasing the prisoners should do it!
Altaïr freed the Saracens, granting him the diversion he needed to enter the next area.
- Altaïr: Go! Now!
- Guard: The prisoners are escaping! After them!
- Altaïr: The path should be clear now...
Altaïr left the tent and entered the next area of the camp.
- Altaïr: Another trebuchet firing! I must stop it! But there are too many soldiers... Maybe with a crossbow... I could take them out from a distance!
Altaïr killed a nearby crossbowman and armed himself, starting to fire at the soldiers.
- Guard: What was that? Who did that? There! That scholar is firing at us!
After shooting all the soldiers, Altaïr continued through the camp.
- Altaïr: More guards! I could sneak past them! They won't see me behind those tents...
Using the tents as cover, Altaïr made his way closer to the commander's location.
- Templar: All guards listen carefully! The captain summons you all to him. Make haste, all of you!
- Altaïr: This is my chance! There's only one guard left!
Altaïr killed the remaining Templar and entered the camp's final area.
- Commander: My captains! It is with pride that I stand before you now! The reason you've all been summoned here must be clear by now! Acre's outer defenses have been vanquished! It's time to enter the city with full arms! Everyone! Await my orders and prepare for battle! Scholar! Yes, you! Come up here and give me your blessing!
- Altaïr: But of course, my child! You'll receive yours right away!
Altaïr climbed to the top of the building the commander was on.
- Commander: Scholar, this is it! I sense that our victory is at hand!
- Altaïr: You couldn't be more... Mistaken!
- Commander: Guards! Attack the intruder!
Altaïr killed the commander and hid within the building.
- Guard: Search every tent! He's been seen in this area! He was dressed as a scholar, keep your eyes open!
- Altaïr: My mission here is complete! I should leave this camp as quickly as possible! But the exits are blocked... That catapult is already armed! I wonder if...
Altaïr ran to the catapult.
- Templar: We've got you cornered! Where will you run now!?
- Altaïr: Not yet, Templar!
As the guards approached, Altaïr set up the catapult and launched himself out of the camp.
- Altaïr: Whaaaaaaa!
Outcome
Altaïr stopped the poison plot and escaped the camp, heading for Jerusalem.
Trivia
- When the woman taken prisoner by the Crusaders cries for help, the voice is clearly that of a man. This is one of several curious cases throughout the game where lines are spoken by incorrect voice actors.
