One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer. But one has seen.” – Rene Daumal.

The Assassins fascinate us, with their creed and contradictions. Theirs is an interesting philosophy, if only they were not so quick to rely on murder to achieve progress. What did you see when you looked at the world through their eyes? Share with us.

Congratulations, you have completed your first assignment. New ones are now available on the Missions page.

Guerrilla Tactics[]

GuerrillaTactics M

The aggressive nature of humanity is undeniable. But why is it that so many use violence to solve problems? Study this closely, but keep your wits about you.

Reward: +50 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Kill 8 enemies with a pistol.

Reward: +100 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Use 5 enemies as human shields.

Observation comes before action. We bide our time, uncovering truths some would prefer remained hidden.

Missions Without Path[]

Bleeding Edge[]

BleedingEdge M

The way I see it, the Assassins of today aren’t all killers, but those who are know more ways to kill than a kindergarten’s got crayons. The hunter’s instinct of these warriors can’t be learned from books and whatnot so what are you waiting for? Jump in there and live the life of a predator for a change.

Mission Rewards:

  • BleedingEdge
  • 750 XP

Reward: +50 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Kill 5 enemies using heavy axe slam attacks.
  • In Assassin's Creed III: Kill 5 enemies by throwing war clubs.

Complete Message

Call me sentimental but there’s something that’s just so… satisfying about smashing enemies with blunt weapons. The Assassins of old generally didn’t resort to brute force, but weren’t afraid to crack a skull every now and again. We can learn from their fine example.

Reward: +100 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Kill 5 enemies by blowing up powder kegs.
  • In Assassin's Creed III: Kill 5 enemies with trip mines.

Complete Message

Ahhh, the sweet smell of cordite! I have yet to find a problem that won’t go away with the application of enough explosives. Even the Assassins, usually so careful and quiet, have used them extensively to create diversions and eliminate targets.

Reward: +150 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Disarm 5 guards during conflicts.
  • In Assassin's Creed III: Reach a kill streak of 5.

Complete Message

Battlefield control, from the tiniest skirmish to entire battlefronts, is crucial for decisive victories. What Assassins lack in strength in numbers, they make up for with cunning and creativity, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.

Reward: +200 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Obtain 10 perfect wolf pelts.
  • In Assassin's Creed III Multiplayer: Play 1 Multiplayer session in Manhunt mode.

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Perform 5 assassinations from horseback while outside of combat.
  • In Assassin's Creed III: Hang 5 enemies using predator moves.

Complete Message
The true warrior makes good use of every asset available on the battlefield. Combat sharpens their minds to the point where action becomes faster than thought, making them true engines of war. I expect as much from you when strapped to those machines.

Stick with me, and I may succeed in turning you scrubs into men and women I’d be proud of.

New Frontier[]

NewFrontier M

As fascinating as studying the intricacies of the struggle between Assassins and Templars can be, we can’t ignore the sheer richness of lore and history in which this conflict is steeped. The level of detail encoded in the genetic memories of modern day Assassins opens up countless opportunities for our exploration.

Mission Rewards:

  • NewFrontier
  • 750 XP

Reward: +50 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Pet 5 domestic animals.
  • In Assassin's Creed III: Bait 5 wild animals.

Complete Message

Man’s relationship with animals during the American Revolution makes for such a fascinating subject. On one hand, domesticated animals provided the colonists with companionship, protection, and food. On the other, wild animals tried to turn the colonists and their livestock into food.

Reward: +100 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III Multiplayer: Play 1 Domination multiplayer session.
  • On Initiates: Open a memory where Connor witnesses a violent colonization act on Initiates.

Complete Message

Aggressive expansion and territorial conflicts left deep scars in the newly forged United States of America. They say history is written by the victors, but, thanks to technology, we will write the final truth.

Reward: +150 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Replay 2 missions.
  • On Initiates: Open a medical report of an Animus addict on Initiates.

Complete Message

Animus addiction is a relatively new area of study. Abstergo Entertainment has not been very forthcoming about the risks involved with its latest public project. What little we know seems to indicate there’s significant risk involved, which bears further investigation. Please don’t worry; we’ll make sure you work within acceptable parameters.

Reward: +200 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Unlock 75% of Fast Travel Points.
  • In Assassin's Creed III: Travel a distance equivalent from one Fast Travel Point of the Frontier to the other. (800 meters, Fast Travel does not count!)

Complete Message

The distance algorithm of Animus technology has always been, at best, a generous emulation rather than an exact simulation. We need to establish proper distance coefficients so later calculations can be performed within acceptable parameters for our own experiments. Your participation is appreciated. As they say in France, “les voyages forment la jeunesse.

Reward: +250 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Collect at least 1 volume of the Almanacs.
  • In Assassin's Creed III: Bribe 1 Printer.

Complete Message
In spite of our technological advances, the printed page remains one of the most stable forms of data transmission and storage. Therein lies the delicious irony of using the Animus to recover journals and other important historical documents.

Some within our ranks chafe at our slow progress and non-interventionist stance. Yet without proper understanding, any action could cause irreparable harm to our long-term goals.

Nam non solum scire aliquid, artis est, sed, quaedam ars etiam docendi.

Rising Star[]

RisingStar M

It is astounding how accurate the social simulations within Animus technology are. You get thrown into whole new universes brimming with historical figures to meet and so many things to accomplish. It is far too much for a single person to take in. We need you. You play as important a role as the rest of us in this grand experiment.

Mission Rewards:

  • RisingStar
  • 750 XP

Reward: +50 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Earn at least £1000 by looting Convoys.
  • In Assassin's Creed III: Throw £60 to people.

Complete Message

Rob from the rich, give to the less rich. The lesson here is dead simple: it's okay to steal, as long as you pay it forward. At least, I think that's the lesson.

Reward: +100 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Recruit 6 Assassins.
  • On Initiates: Open the memory about the induction of a sister into the Brotherhood on Initiates.

Reward: +150 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Send at least 5 Assassins to lure guards away from their posts.
  • In Assassin's Creed III: Spring at least 5 ambushes on guards.

Complete Message

Teamwork is the best. The Assassins relied on it constantly, since they were horribly outnumbered most of the time. There's nothing like being the underdog to light a fire under your ass!

Reward: +200 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Liberate at least 3 forts.
  • On Initiates: Open a memory about the siege of an Assassin fortress on Initiates.

Complete Message

The Templars try to change things real sneaky-like, using the world as some sort of chess board. The Assassins prefer to just flip the table and help clean up the mess.

Reward: +250 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Send out 6 Assassins to start riots.
  • In Assassin's Creed III: Spend 5 minutes fully notorious.

Complete Message
It's a lot of hard work toppling a monolith of secrets and lies that stretches back through recorded history. That's why we're reaching out to you so that we can do it together.

We want you on our team. We're the Initiates. You're not alone.

Packrat[]

Packrat M

There are some among us who see Animus technology as their own personal battleground, or as some sort of social hub. Worse still, others want to study it until we’ve squeezed all of the novelty out. It is obvious they fail to see the unique opportunity in managing long-lost resources and accumulating unique digital treasures.

Mission Rewards:

  • Packrat
  • 750 XP

Reward: +50 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Collect at least 60% of the Feathers.
  • In Assassin's Creed III: Snare 3 animals.

Complete Message

My colleagues argue all the time about the symbolic significance of chasing feathers, and collecting scraps of the local wildlife, in the genetic memories of old Assassins. They should learn to appreciate how collecting is a journey worth taking in itself.

Reward: +100 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Earn £15000.
  • In Assassin's Creed III: Spend £15000.

Complete Message

The economics of Animus technology are, to put it mildly, borked. No one in his right mind should take them seriously. Yet there’s something fundamentally satisfying in acquiring and disposing of wealth in these simulations. Flash that cash, Initiates!

Reward: +150 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Complete at least 3 inventions.
  • On Initiates: Open a memory about an Abstergo inventor explaining his invention on Initiates.

Complete Message

Being a completist is nothing to sneer at. One needs dedication, passion, and a level of bone-headedness that borders on obsession. That drive allows us to power through the most mind-numbing of tasks to achieve our objectives.

Reward: +200 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Loot at least 60% of Treasure Chests.
  • On Initiates: Open a memory about a wreck on Initiates.

Complete Message

The lure of treasure, especially when hidden or guarded, is often hard to resist for the adventuring soul. From stories of pirate treasure to tales of plundering dungeons, it’s easy to get swept away in the excitement of it all...

Reward: +250 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Earn £1500 by sending convoys.
  • In Assassin's Creed III: Earn £150 by pickpocketing people.

Complete Message

It would be irresponsible if we failed to recognize how vital pursuing completion within the Animus is for our cause. Some would ask you to do it for historical accuracy, or for academic reasons, but really, it’s fine if you do it for glory and bragging rights alone.

Life Scratcher[]

LifeScratcher M

Contrary to some popular depictions of their culture, the Kanien’kehá:ka do not have names that are literal sentences. Rather, they are usually name forms, which include word roots and gender prefixes, which leaves their names open to various interpretations.

A person’s name often draws upon their family history and how they see themselves. Let’s examine Connor and see how his upbringing could have given his birth name a different meaning.

Mission Rewards:

  • LifeScratcher
  • 300 XP

Reward: +50 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Replay a memory in Assassin's Creed III. We suggest "Hide and Seek" (Sequence 4 Mission 1).
  • On Initiates: Open a memory on Initiates where Ratonhnhaké:ton's father witnesses the murder of his own father.

Complete Message

One interpretation of Ratonhnhaké:ton is “He Has Begun to Live.” If Connor’s village was never destroyed, what kind of man would he have grown into? How would his friendship with Kanen'tó:kon have changed? What would his relationship with his mother have been like?

Reward: +100 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Replay a memory in Assassin's Creed III. We suggest "Something To Remember" (Sequence 4 Mission 4).
  • On Initiates: Open a memory on Initiates that reveals the birth of the young eagle.

Complete Message

In Ratonhnhaké:ton, “ohn” is a root that can mean “spirit” and “aké:t” is a root that can mean “emerge”. As such, another interpretation of the name could have been “His Spirit Emerges.” Given everything that happened to Connor at such an early age, what do you think he thought about who he really was and who he wanted to become?

Reward: +150 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III: Kill 1 guard dog.
  • In Assassin's Creed III: Kill 1 wolf using your hidden blade.

Complete Message

The meaning that Connor ultimately chose for himself is “A Life That is Scratched” which is close to another possible interpretation of his name “He Scratches to Survive.” Everything that Connor achieved came at a terrible price and although he accomplished a great many things, one wonders if he was ever truly at peace.

War Games[]

WarGames M

All right, it’s time to separate the hunters from the prey, the strong from the weak, and the griefers from the gamers.

You’ve had your fun tackling simulations and recreations, but let’s see what happens when you’re forced to go toe-to-toe against another flesh-and-blood human being.

I’m not going to be around to gently kiss away your tears, so don’t disappoint me.

Reward: +100 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III Multiplayer: Score at least a total of 1000 points during Multiplayer sessions.
  • In Assassin's Creed III Multiplayer: Have a best session score of 600 or more in Manhunt mode.

Complete Message

The Niitsitapii tribe of the American plains had it right. It’s all about counting coup and showing others how brave and crafty you are. You can add a few notches to your coup stick, you’ve earned them.

Reward: +150 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III Multiplayer: Obtain at least 4 Accolades.
  • In Assassin's Creed III Multiplayer: Complete at least 2 challenges in the Multiplayer.

Complete Message

True soldiers don’t need fancy ree-wards at the end of missions. Surviving, and knowing you’re on the right side, ought to be thanks enough. But it’s still nice to be recognized for your skills, so soak in the compliments while you’re still sucking in air.

Reward: +200 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III Multiplayer: Obtain a best Wolfpack personal score of at least 2500.
  • On Initiates: Open a memory where Ezio first cooperated with Assassins on Initiates.

Complete Message

Sure, being the “Lone Wolf” can be glorious, I’ll grant you that. But if you really want to impress me, you have to prove you have what it takes to work in a team. You wanna know what rhymes with survival? Teamwork!

Rewards: +250 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed III Multiplayer: Win 1 session.
  • In Assassin's Creed III Multiplayer: Perform at least 5 humiliations.

Complete Message
Well whaddaya know? You managed to do it? Color me surprised soldier, you just might make it after all!

Never forget, we’re in this to win. The price may appear to be too high, but guess what? It’s only going to get more expensive as we forge ahead. So we can’t afford anything less than total victory.

Popular culture has turned thieves and murderers into heroes of a romanticized era. And you know what? I don’t care! Pirates are cool, period. The looting, the adventure and the savagery of the era call to the adventurer’s soul like few things in history can.

Reward: +100 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Find 3 treasure maps.
  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Find 1 buried treasure.

Complete Message

What says “pirate” more than following old treasure maps through dangerous islands to find treasures buried in secret spots?

Reward: +150 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Berserk 2 soldiers using the blowpipe.
  • On Initiates: Open a memory about a Mayan site on Initiates.

Complete Message

Beyond sea shanties, tankards of grog, and pieces of eight, the Age of Piracy was at the heart of a clash between hordes of Europeans and the local natives. Those willing to go above and beyond could find priceless treasures from strange civilizations, or dangerous weapons.

Derelict Salvager[]

DerelictSalvager M

Arrrrr! Ye be ready for more plunder and lootin’? We got stuff to recover and you’re the specialists! Consider this a Letter of Marque from me to you. You may address me as King Loot. Yeah, I like the sound of that!

Mission Rewards:

  • DerelictSalvager
  • 500 XP

Reward: +50 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Tag at least 1 ship.
  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Plunder at least 50 rum barrels.

Reward: +100 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Own at least 3 letters.
  • On Initiates: Open a memory on Initiates where a young Florentine Assassin started out as a messenger.

Complete Message

Most of my colleagues agree, getting our hands, so to speak, on long-lost correspondences is one of the most amazing features of Cloud technology. And some of these letters are flying right under Abstergo’s nose. Good thing you’re dedicated enough to help us retrieve them.

Reward: +150 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Hide in 5 stalking zones.
  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Plunder at least 2 warehouses.

Complete Message

The pirate life wasn’t just boarding ships and carousing. It was also about daring raids on warehouses both in plantations and cities. Success usually lead to serious debauchery and revelry.

Reward: +200 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Own at least 5 manuscript pages.
  • On Initiates: Open a memory on Initiates where an Assassin discovers that deciphering Altaïr Codex is a family business.

Complete Message

I’m not sure what role the manuscript pages played in the Templar vs. Assassin conflict at the time of Ed Kenway’s adventures. We’ll let others solve that puzzle, we’ll focus on collecting the pieces.

Island Runner[]

IslandRunner M

You know what was cooler than going out plundering with a pirate ship? Going out plundering with a FLEET of ships. Go forth and amass an armada so you can bring back more LOOT!

Mission Rewards:

  • IslandRunner
  • 500 XP

Reward: +50 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Add at least 5 new ships in Kenway's Fleet.
  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Plunder a total of 10 ships with Kenway's Fleet.

Reward: +100 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Visit a total of 5 shipwrecks.
  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Own at least 5 plans.

Complete Message

As much as I’d like to let you chase gold and rum all over the place, you’re expected to collect more than digital wealth (and booze). Abstergo’s simulation is filled to the brim with stuff to gather and study, and you are among the best to hunt for it.

Reward: +150 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Own at least 2 Templay Keys.
  • On Initiates: Open a memory on Initiates where a Templar, whose father and son were Assassins, completes his first mission.

Complete Message

Don’t mistake my appreciation for fine things for lack of care about our cause. Part of our mandate is to uncover whatever the Templars are up to, often before the Assassins. Our commitment to this is unshakable.

Reward: +200 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Own at least 50 Animus Fragments.
  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Open a total of at least 50 Treasure Chests.

Plus, you can always grab some extra stuff on the side.

Path: Legendary Explorer[]

Eagle Eyed Lookout[]

EagleEyedLookout M

Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.” – André Gide

One would be hard pressed to find a more thrilling time than the era known as the Age of Piracy. The progress of naval technology was staggering as European powers invested massive resources to establish secure supply lines to and from the colonies. The New World was rife with promise and peril, both from the land itself and those coming to exploit it.

We need you to dive into this world, so to speak. Explore the West Indies in the 18th century as we continue our ever-expanding quest for more precise data.

Mission Rewards:

  • EagleEyedLookout
  • 300 XP

Reward: +50 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Synchronize 3 View Points.
  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Use Fast Travel at least 1 time.

Complete Message

It’s very interesting to note that Abstergo Entertainment has linked the Assassins’ historical Leap of Faiths to their instant geographical relocation algorithm (A.K.A. Fast Travel) in this particular simulation. There’s a certain poetic symbolism to it.

Reward: +100 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Own at least 3 Shanties.
  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Sail for at least 3 minutes.

Complete Message

The breadth of this era’s simulation are simply staggering. I must confess that I sometimes plug in when I need a break from the hectic pace of keeping up with our research objectives.

Reward: +150 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Run 500 meters in the trees.
  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Kill 1 crocodile.

Complete Message
The scientific method can sometimes appear repetitious as we sift through coutless datasets to extract new insights. However, there is adventure in discovery, and the answers are not found by the timid. Remember that every task we ask of you serves a grand purpose and that you have our permission to enjoy yourself while you’re at it.

As for me, I am tormented with an everlasting itch for things remote. I love to sail forbidden seas, and land on barbarous coasts.” – Herman Melville.

Trusted Navigator[]

TrustedNavigator M

"Consider the subtleness of the sea; how its most dreaded creatures glide under water, unapparent for the most part, and treacherously hidden beneath the loveliest tints of azure." – Herman Melville, Moby Dick

We’re expected to analyze the content of this simulation. But given the new “entertainment” approach Abstergo is planning, we also need to study the simulation itself. The data you provide will help us understand their technology better.

Mission Rewards:

  • TrustedNavigator
  • 500 XP

Reward: +50 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Harpoon and kill at least 2 Great White Sharks.
  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Possess at least 3 items you crafted.

Complete Message

The simulation behind hunting sharks is fascinating. It catches the struggle of man versus nature while tying it with the environment’s crafting functions.

Reward: +100 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Board at least 1 Brig.
  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Assassinate at least 3 enemies while swinging on a rope.

Complete Message

The algorithms behind the simulated ship battles are simplified to allow their intended user to experience the thrills of battle without the frustrations you’d expect from a more accurate representation. Mastering its intricacies requires focus and the development of specific skill sets.

Reward: +150 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Make sure you plunder at least 1 Smuggler's Den.
  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Disarm at least 1 enemy.

Complete Message

Smuggling was a significant economical activity in the heydays of piracy. With all those countries at war, resources had to be shipped to the parties that needed them. Stealing from smugglers opens up one of those grey areas that makes for solid research material.

Reward: +200 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Make sure you complete at least 2 Naval Contracts after liberating Forts.
  • On Initiates: Open a memory on Initiates where Edward Kenway's grandson boards a ship and helps win a naval battle.

Complete Message
Liberating Forts in the simulation opens up a series of new features, chief among them is the possibility to perform naval-based missions. The more we explore this environment, the more data we unlock. Our challenge will be extracting the historically significant elements while filtering out the likely bias Abstergo Entertainment will add to it.

Stalwart Coxswain[]

StalwartCoxswain M

"Travellers like poets are mostly an angry race." - Sir Richard Francis Burton

The life of the exploring scientist is fraught with perils an academican’s life might not prepare for. The cinematic representations of our adventurous brethren may be a tad bit exaggerated but expecting the unexpected is part of the scienfitic method.

Mission Rewards:

  • StalwartCoxswain
  • 500 XP

Reward: +50 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Catch 1 courier.
  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Use berserker darts on at least 2 guards.

Complete Message

Most of the time, knowledge doesn’t come to you. You must take initiative to acquire it. In rarer cases, it actively runs away from you. That’s where a more daring soul goes hunting for it… With the proper tools.

Reward: +100 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Own at least 2 pieces of art purchased from stores.
  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Own at least 2 pieces of art obtained by Kenway's Fleet.

Complete Message

We’re still unsure if these art pieces are part of Abstergo’s subjects' genetic memories or if they were implanted by the Templars for some purpose. Either way, the implications are worthy of additional research.

Reward: +150 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Have at least one victory on record for the Fanorona tavern game.
  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Have at least one victory on record for the Morris tavern game.

Complete Message

Untangling Abstergo’s most complex processes requires innovative approaches that may not make sense initially. For instance, sending you out in their simulation to play simulations of games allows us to explore how they handle recursiveness.

Reward: 200 XP

  • In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Kill 1 White Whale.

If you were wondering about those Reales we asked you to stockpile. Consider them a little padding for your next Kenway assignment.
