Daphnae was the leader of the Daughters of Artemis who resided in Chios, Greece, during the 5th century BCE.
Biography
Sometime in 431 BCE while visiting the Temple of Artemis in Phokis, Daphnae made the acquaintance of the Spartan misthios Kassandra and tasked her with the hunting of seven legendary creatures found across Greece.[1]
After Kassandra obtained the hides of all the legendary creatures, Daphnae later met her on the island of Chios, the sanctuary of the Daughters, she then revealed that that process was to select a new leader for the Daughters of Artemis, the challenger and current leader would have to fight to the death for the right to be leader.[2]
