The Comte de Gambais (died 2 September 1792) was a French aristocrat, royalist, and a spy for the Austrian monarchy during the French Revolution.
Biography[]
As the head of the spy ring operating in Paris, de Gambais provided information to the Austrian forces in order to defeat the revolutionaries and restore the French monarchy. In 1792, Georges Danton with the help of Arno Dorian and other Assassins, destroyed de Gambais' organization by assassinating him and his accomplices, ensuring that France would not be invaded by foreign troops.[1]
