Australia is a country that is located in the southern Pacific Ocean.

History[]

Isu Era[]

During the Isu Era, at least three structures were made in what would become Australia: one on the east coast, one on the west coast, and a third in the middle of the desert.[1]

Victorian era[]

During the 19th century, the Australian state of Tasmania was advertised as holiday destination for people from the United Kingdom wishing to visit the colonies of the British Empire. Tasmania was described as a fertile land with its own host of exotic animals.[2]

Modern era[]

By 2011, Abstergo Industries was aware of only one of the Isu structures, at the center of the Outback, and later shared a map containing its location along with other known vaults to Juhani Otso Berg as a reward for his performance in the second stage of the Animi Training Program. Abstergo theorized that the Isu locations were possibly Isu vaults.[3]

On 10 September 2012, a group of Assassins were located in the city of Brisbane before they were terminated by the Templars. The sole survivor was away from his team and called Gavin Banks following three days of no contact with his cell but was tracked down and killed before he was instructed on how to flee the country.[4]

On 21 August 2013, the Initiates network received an update from the help of the C.TAG (Coordinates Temporal And Geographical) program in the New South Wales town of Parkes. However due to the increased risk factor attached to this, the C.TAG development was proposed to be shut down to instead focus on Initiate operations.[5]

In 2018,[6] Álvaro Gramática, the Director of Research of the Future Technology division of Abstergo Industries, had a lab in an undisclosed location somewhere in Australia. In his lab, he was creating a body for the Isu Juno to inhabit using data he gathered from researching the Shroud of Eden. However in August, his lab was infiltrated by an Assassin team led by Charlotte de la Cruz. They killed Juno, and in an explosion caused by Juhani Otso Berg, Álvaro and Charlotte also perished.[7]

Behind the scenes[]

In issue #11 of Assassin's Creed: Uprising, the nationally recognized sandstone rock formation Uluru can be seen in the distance. Most likely placing the location of Gramática's laboratory in the Northern Territory of Australia. The desert region seen throughout issues #11 and #12 is the Great Sandy Desert that starts in Western Australia and also encompasses a lower half of the Northern Territory.
