Since Sima is in hiatus and I don't know if he's online these days, I will fill in this Assassinews section for him. This is a good news for everyone waiting for an activation key in Assassin's Creed Initiates!
Assassin's Creed Initiates is back to Open Alpha stage again as Ubisoft lifts up its NDA (non-disclosure agreement) in AC Initiates. As AC:I became more open to the public, I guess that more information are gonna get leaked in the web. More revelations will be revealed also.

A new promotional video for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag surfaced today, in which Ubisoft shows the game's freeroam capabilities. Since Sima is on hiatus for the foreseeable future, I figured I'd fill in for this Assassinews edition.
It has emerged from Kotaku that Ubisoft currently have three Assassin's Creed games in production, one of them very likely being Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and two as of yet unnamed titles.
Responding to this, Ubisoft has issued this statement:
Subsequently, the title remains 'on hold'.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has revealed that the next Assassin's Creed title will not continue the stories of Connor and Aveline de Grandpré. The game will have an all new hero and time period, and will be developed by a new team. The next game will be a "major leap forward", and is set to be released some time before April 2014. "It is the benefit of multiple teams working on multiple chapters of the product, each getting several years to make their versions of an Assassin's Creed game", Guillemot added.
Additionally Ubisoft have released a new trailer for the upcoming The Tyranny of King Washington downloadable content for Assassin's Creed III, showcasing the unique features it will bring to the game.

With only two days left until the release of Assassin's Creed III for the consoles, the Staff of this wiki would like to remind the community about a few things.
First off we'd like to talk about the leaked content. A few people have received their copies of ACIII earlier than the official launch date and most are excited to discuss what they may have watched. However, there are gamers who prefer not to be spoiled of the excitement this series has to offer. Therefore, we request users and anonymous contributors to avoid posting any potential spoilers until the official release of the games.
A few have already been warned since they decided to ignore the site notice and upload screenshots from ripped videos and adding information. For the next two days, please refrain from uploading screenshots or updating content.
Most wiki's prefer to lock out users from editing for a few days to avoid spoilers after the release date ( and to play). We however, will not be locking the wiki for user…

Assassin's Creed III is set to be released a mere 8 days from now. While many of you are greatly anticipating the release of this game, we thought that we would share with you our favorite 9 trivia factoids about the Assassin's Creed series as well as facts about the Assassin's Creed Wiki.
The character Desmond Miles is voiced by one of the most prolific voice actors in the game, Nolan North. North is known for providing the voices of many different video game characters including Nathan Drake, The Prince, and Edward Richofen. North is not the only prominently known voice actor in this series though, he is also joined by Kristen Bell who voices Lucy Stillman.
Everyone knows Desmond Miles, Ezio, and Connor Kenway. However, this game is filled with many bit characters who add to the rich lore of this series. Let's explore a few of these characters briefly.

It always amazes me how Ubisoft is able to crank out the Assassin Creed games once a year, yet somehow manages to improve and outclass the previous installment in the series in almost every way. Each game is an improvement in terms of graphics, sound, gameplay, story, you name it. Ubisoft hasn't ceased to surprise so far, so will the upcoming Assassin's Creed III once again be a piece of art?
From what I've seen so far, it might very well be the best Assassin's Creed to date. Let's take animations as an example. Every single animation in the game has been rebuild from the ground to fit with Connor's new style of fighting. Unlike Ezio, Connor relies heavily on movement whilst fighting, making fluid animations an absolute necessity. And these animations are most certainly fluid. If a cannonball strikes close to Connor, the way he stumbles over seems almost real. This also has a positive effect on the combat system, as Connor can now slice through hordes of enemies with Tomahawk without e…Read more >

Today, a user on NeoGaf claimed to have the July issue of GameInformer which has details on the game, Assassin's Creed III: Liberation. Alongside a screenshot, it revealed that players will take up the role of Aveline, a French black female Assassin during the French and Indian War! Ubisoft gave a "no comment" when asked about the article, which basically means "we can't say anything about it but we won't say it's fake either because it isn't," and we all know how well GameInformer handles their secrets... The game will be set in New Orleans, but will also explore settings along the Gulf into Mexico, and span from 1765 to 1780.

For those who don't know, I am Blaidd, I've been a member of the Wiki for over a year, a member of the Istruttorium for little over a year, and more specifically the Rafiq of the Apprentice Program. I have agreed to post the News Blogs concerning the operations of the Wiki. Sima is doing the News Blogs regarding new Assassin's Creed info, and Teller is doing the Holiday Blogs. So let's begin.
Now while Cello was the Bureaucrat here, this Wiki ran under a strict hierarchy. Cello was of course at the top, followed by the Admins, the Istruttori, the Apprentices, and finally, the regular editors and anons. When a decision needed to be made affecting the future of this Wiki, only the Staff had a say, with Cello giving the final word, while the rest of the community was ignored. However, now that Cello is gone, we can change that system.
Our new Bureaucrats - Sima and Vatsa have abolished the old hierarchy. The new message we are trying to deliver to the community now is "equality": all users ar…

Right, so for those of you who don't know, PAX East took place from the 6th of April to the 8th, during which, a new gameplay demo for Assassin's Creed III was shown. While the demo has not yet hit the internet, screenshots and information about the demo have been released to the general public.
Here's the demo from a story point of view:
It takes place in 1775 during the battle of Bunker Hill, with Connor's mission to assassinate a British official named John Pitcairn, who is also a Templar. As the battle commences, Connor moves throughout the American ranks trying to reach Pitcairn who was at the peak of a hill. Dodging cannon-fire, Connor decides to take a different, more indirect path towards Pitcairn, through the trees. Continuing on his way, Connor comes across a group of Redcoats. Proceeding to slaughter them, Connor continued on towards the British camp. Once there, Connor located Pitcairn and made his way towards him, before using his tomahawk to kill him.

I have been thinking about this for some time. Ever since the release of ACR, my interest in the series has progressively deteriorated -- everything I loved about AC, the stuff that captured me in AC1... is gone. And in ACR they managed to take away the fun and complexity AC2 and ACBH brought to the series by doing a game simply for the spite of it, with a money focused released every year, like Call of Duty does. Ubisoft disheartened me, but worse, I realized my interest in the wiki itself was fading. It´s been 2 weeks since the thought first crossed my mind, and I feel it´s time I finally follow my path again.
For almost 3 years, I have led this place. It started with me as a sole editor on a 7-article site and I helped it become a 2000+ article online encyclopedia. Okay, so I realize that news sites are already leaking info related to the leaked GameInformer article on Assassin's Creed III, so I suppose I will do the same here, even though it may not be quite right... Though it's either us or them.
Here is a basic rundown of the new features in the upcoming GameInformer article, to be released next week:
- The new Assassin is the son of a Native American woman and a British soldier. His calls himself Connor, but his birth name is Ratohnhaké:ton. Born into the Mohawk, he eventually crosses paths with the Assassins in his search for righteousness.
- Connor is quiet and stoic, letting actions speak for words rather than conversing with others. In contrast to Ezio, Connor is a freedom fighter who acts in the name of justice rather than on personal revenge.
- The game is set between 1753 and 1783, meaning we will be playing a good chunk of Connor's life, about the timeframe of Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood combined.
- Settings will include Bost…
March 1st of 2012. 9 months to the fullfilment of the Mayan Prophecy, for the launch of Abstergo's Eye satellite and for the delivery of the third and final chapter of Assassin's Creed following Desmond's destiny.
And to start the hype, Ubisoft has unveiled today via GameInformer the boxart AND setting of the new game.
The new game will follow another white-beaked-hooded ancestor on one of the most century-defining wars ever -- the American Revolution.
We have no more details at this time but expect more soon -- especially if the game has been in development for as long as they say, we shall have info promptly avaiable to build up hype. And maybe this time they will deliver what is promised -- a true assassin experience.
I must say, altough the setting is kinda know and taken, with Mel Gibson's The Patriot and similar stuff covering it, the image got me excited. I'm curious to see the AC take on this. Let's hope it joins the best of AC, ACII and ACB -- namely, atmosphere/wisdom, great story,…

The first DLC for Assassin's Creed: Revelations has been announced. Named "The Lost Archive", the downloadable content will feature gameplay sequences similar to Desmond's Journey ones, but focused on Subject 16's life. Unfortunaly, Ubisoft's trend of not including (or at least delaying) PC players also makes a appearance this time. Altough I expect it to be avaiable for PC at a later date, I still find the lack of explanation for excluding the PC version disgusting, without even a mention to the why.
On a cheerful note, this week the wiki has surpassed the TWO THOUSAND main article count! (everyone cheers)

And here we are! After the utterly dissapointment that was ACR and Ubisoft in 2011 (or not, depend if you liked ACR or not), here we are, 2012!

These are the words spoken by the venerable Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Coming a long way from being a Florentine noble to becoming perhaps the most influential member of the Assassin order, Ezio now seeks to learn about the wisdom left behind by the legendary Mentor, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.
Assassin's Creed: Revelations is the fourth major installment of the award-winning Assassin's Creed franchise, focusing on the three major protagonists this time around: Altaïr, Ezio, and the modern day descendant Desmond Miles. This game will conclude the series' time in the era of the Renaissance, and the stories of two out of the three major protagonists.

So, without further ado, let us begin.
The series has come a long way since it entered the public eye, way back in 2007. The story followed Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, the white-clad Syrian Assassin as he fought to regain his title and rid the Holy Land of its Templar plague. Fastforward two years, and we were introduced to the charming, confident and slightly flamboyant Italian ladies-man, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, whose quest for vengeance against the men who killed his family helped save all of Italy from a brutal Templar rule.

This post will be a shorter dose of awesomeness than usual, sorry, folks =P
I just got an email from one of my Ubisoft contacts linking me to a new trailer for Assassin's Creed: Embers. I'm not spoiling anything -- it's pretty short, just watch it:
Along in the email, came this little explanation/fact sheet:
Now living in a cozy Tuscan villa with his wife and their two children, Ezio Auditore spends his time enjoying the company of family, old friends and cultivating his vineyards. The life of this former Assassin Mentor will not stay quiet for long. One day a mysterious Assassin shows up at Ezio’s door quite unexpectedly, begging for Ezio’s aid. Will this old assassin’s fire die out before he can save the ones he love, or will it burn brightly one last time?
As Assassin’s Creed Revelations is Ezio’s last game, we felt the need to have closure with this great character. That is why Assassin’s Creed Embers tells the story of an older Ezio, 10 years after the end of Assassi…

First we have this awesome list of news gathered by User:Stormbeast on a blog of his, one which I am now reposting here for everyone to see ^^ I believe he will keep updating it, and when he does, I'll relay the info to all as always =]
Since it has a truckload of spoilers, I'm listing it under the spoiler tag, click the "show" button to unveil the known features and reveal the truth!
- If you get close enough to a person, e.g. following Yusuf at the beginning of the game, Ezio will go into autopilot and walk with him.
- All memories concerning the Keys in Constantinople will be accessed through Sofia. The Altair memories within the Keys will be relatively short, but engaging. You do not have to activate the Key as soon as you touch it, leading to possible replay-ability of Altair memories as well.
- There is an achievement/trophy for reaching the top of Hagia Sophia in un…

Today I bring you a very little post but with interesting news.
Yesterday on IGN a video went up of a interview made with Darby McDevitt, lead writer of Assassin's Creed: Revelations. In it, he explains the ancestry of Desmond and adress the community-stirring decision of making Altaïr and Ezio not related, unlike the old creative director Patrice Désilets had stated on the interviews near the launch of Assassin's Creed II.
Watch the video here!
Personally, I tought making them not related was a head up the ass move, specially since they haven't given us a reason, but now after his explanation, I can bare with it -- I still don't like it, but their theory makes sense XD
And you, people - what you think of it? Sound off on the comments below me! (heh)

What a lovely and tiresome day this was... at least I saw a lion. ^^
Today the news is pretty objective and purely wiki related – more specifically: Giveaway!
Today marks the end of the first ever Assassin's Creed Wiki Giveaway!
It ran for a month, and after 30 days of exhausting drawing, quote writing and wishful thinking (for the lottery), we have successfully chosen the art and quote winners and randomly picked the lottery numbers.
Let the ceremony begin!
"What Ezio says when his blade doesn't spring."
The quote was purposely made with a double meaning, and although we swore something... of the not clean aspect would win, the winner was actually a innocent one that made us laugh. XD
And the Oscar goes to:
Due to lack of answer, a new winner was choosen.
So, the art was a tough one... We had no good prospects, then in this last week, 3 or 4 good ones came around. XD So... after much deliberation, we narrowed it to two drawings... But we couldn't make our minds about it. Both were a…

As damned ponies march across the green sunlight-bathed landscape of the internet, the ACWiki once more proudly brings news to the world.
A couple months ago, I tried to make a news post with summaries -- I really liked the way it looked and it made easier for users to read exactly what they wanted to read without having to sort through aaall my awesome-scented writing (I know some of you love it, but some of you rather jump to the news -- be it Wiki news, AC news, or both) -- and from this post on, I'll try my best to add summaries to all news ^^ Small posts of course may still not have it, but whenever possible, I shall make your navigation easier.

The message wall is now LIVE!
The message wall was designed as a more practical and easy way to leave people messages than our current talkpages. Assassin's Creed Wiki is one of the first wikis to try it out -- we're part of a very select group -- and as such, we will deal with a lot of bugs, but we will also be able to shape how …

As the stars shine above the sky of Earth, more news come to the ACWiki...
To the news!
First, a little staff news: I like to announce the return of User:War Clown. Once a admin here, he went into a personal leave of absence and is now back to staff, altough as a Istruttore -- if everything goes alright, he might regain his rank in the following months. So send a him a "hi" on the comments below ^^
Next comes the big stuff -- so hold on to your panties, especially those of you who are Wikia-haters =P
As one of the most succesfull gaming wikis out there and a great source of feedback in the past, we are continuing our tradition of being the testbed to new Wikia features -- the difference this time (unlike with the "no red links" and "other wikis userpage icons" features and more in the past) is that we got a heads up XD
A new feature is coming live next week that will be a major change in the way talkpages are handled. The "Message Wall", as it is called, will remove the need to enter edit m…

Another lovely week on this third planet away from the sun, and as always, the light of new hopes and of course, the sun we orbit, shines upon this beautiful day on wiki. Why the day is so beautiful...? Well, it's my birthday, that's why! =D
Today I complete 20 years of living -- that's two whole decades oO Two decades filled with awesomeness, love, fight, and, for the last 2 years of those 20, a LOT of wiki stuff ^^ I would like to thank all the staff and users who have been with me since the beggining of ACWiki -- especially User:Master Sima Yi, who's been with me on staff since the 2nd or 3rd month of operation and took a lot of crap (specially from yours truly) XD Really, dutchlander, youre awesome XD Thanks to all of you, guys and gals, you're the best crew a captain could ever want ^^
To the news!
Today we focus specifically on important wikimatters, since we have just one little AC related news since last week.
First of all, we have a new entry on Sammy's little hitchiker's guide t…
